our zero carbon cottage is the perfect choice
Barnacre Green Cottage is private and secluded, 400 metres beyond the other two cottages up Barnacre Lane (our private farm road), and is perfect for couples and families and people with mobility difficulties - see more details here (pdf). All on one level, it can sleep 6/8 in two family bedrooms (each with a double and single bed) plus the sofa bed in the living area.

But the cottage also holds particular appeal for those who want to make sure their holidays have as little impact on the environment as possible: the traditional green oak-frame and lime-panelled cottage's home-from-home atmosphere comes with minimal environmental impact. All the materials in the construction and fitting were selected for their low environmental and carbon impact, there is not a lick of paint anywhere (we use limewash), and Barnacre Green cottage is self-sufficient for all energy, water and waste water. In fact, the building of the cottage was filmed by the BBC in 2007 and featured on It's Not Easy Being Green - so you really can enjoy your holiday guilt-free!
