From the doorstep of this unique self-catering holiday lodge in Bantry you can walk the fabulous and interesting Abbey and Rope Walk. The 4 km easy looped walk passes by Sea Lodge Bantry, follow the colour code blue signs. The walk follows the pavement along the southern side of Bantry Bay, passing the entrance to Bantry House, the fishing pier, Sea Lodge and the Abbey graveyard, which has monuments and memorials erected to those who have lost their lives at sea. Turning left after the Westlodge Hotel onto the Rope Walk Road, the loop includes a short side trip to the unique seventh century Kilnaruane Pillar stone, which features a very early depiction of a boat. The route can be varied by taking a walk up through Bantry House’s gardens and woodlands to reach the Rope Walk or by wandering along a track at the side of Sea Lodge through the Westlodge Hotel grounds, passing the intertidal pond.

Bantry also boasts an impressive market every Friday as well as an enviable selection of pubs, cafes and award-winning restaurants. There is loads to see and do in the area - take a day-trip to Whiddy Island on the Ocean Star ferry boat from Bantry pier which is only a 5-minute stroll away.
