Town: Borth y Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth y Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway? For a day trip the entire Llyn Peninsula calls. With Anglesey within reach and the whole North Wales coast with the Wales Coast Path to be explored, Borth y Gest has it all: a quiet bolt hole but conveniently located for ease of access to this stunning area, a must at any time of the year.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The location was fantastic for long walks along the coastline and beautiful bay that is lovely and quiet. Don’t want to leave!
A wonderful holiday cottage perfectly situated with lovely views across Borth-y-Gest harbour. The cottage is beautifully decorated and full of character, the local touches like the Portmerion tableware and seaside themed furnishings worked well. The dog-friendly aspects like the back garden overlooking the harbour and stair gate worked well. It was nice to be able to walk to the beach, a pretty woodland at Parc Y Borth, and the heritage railway in Porthmadog from the cottage. We look forward to visiting this clean and cosy cottage with its tasteful decoration and varied local attractions again.
We recently had a long weekend in this property. The property is well equipped and has every thing you need to make your stay comfortable. It has beautiful views from several windows. Lots of sitting in the bay window in the kitchen with a glass of wine. The house is in a great location and we explored the surrounding area to the max.The costal path is well worth doing, as is the miles of sandy beach at Black Rock.Cricceith is one of our favourite places and of course the ice cream shop is a must.Do think the location could do with a shop that sells day to day items such as bread and milk and a restaurant that is less high brow. Our 14 year old could not find any thing on the menus that he would happily eat. Think it’s missing a trick given the volume of people that walk the costal path.We were worried that our 14 year old would find the location to quiet but we need not a worried, he loved exploring all the little coves along the costal path, lots of wonderful little beaches to explore. And the house locales right on the beach past the golf course is stunning. We clocked up close to 60,000 steps in 48 hours as there was just so much to see.We will be back.
