Stenson Hill Farm proved a great place for our family get together. 18 people aged 27 to 82 and 2 dogs. All we needed to self cater, sit together, play tennis, football, snooker and pool.
Great location, helpful hosts. Property a little tired in parts with upgrades an ongoing process. Some areas need early attention and a welcome pack of essentials, which we would happily pay for, would be useful. Adding WiFi would also be great.

We stayed for a long weekend for my 40th birthday with family of all ages and had a brilliant time.
We stayed for a long weekend for my 40th birthday with family of all ages and had a brilliant time. The house is huge and separate games room with snooker, pool and table football was a big hit. The owner also left us some fresh samosas to tuck into upon arrival which was a really nice touch. There were two toasters, kettles etc in the kitchen so catering for a big group was easy, and there was loads of fridge and freezer space. Beds were comfy, travel cots and high chairs included so we didnt have to take our own. Minor negatives were the shower pressure was poor, towels werent included in the price, there was no soap/handwash in the bathrooms and the road up to it was full of potholes, but nothing to stop me from visiting again. Overall a really good cottage for a get together with family and friends.

Great place for a large family gathering.
Great place for a large family gathering. Lots of different rooms. Lovely outside areas- tennis court, large garden but not sure if this would be shared if they were people renting next door. Ample parking. Pub short walk away and lovely canal walks.
Caretaker readily available for any queries.
Only comment is that dishwasher in kitchen didn’t work however there is another in the utility and even though there are two cookers they are both very old and tricky to work as all markings had worn off.
Overall we had a fantastic weekend and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

We hired Stenson Hill Farm for our annual large group holiday and were impressed.
We hired Stenson Hill Farm for our annual large group holiday and were impressed. We are 5 families with 9 adults and 8 children and 1 dog.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were adequate in number. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The water pressure of the showers could be improved.
The kitchen is large with two tables and chairs, there is an additional large dining table in the conservatory, which was great to seat all. The sitting room is huge with comfortable sofas and a very large fireplace. The games room was a hit with children and adults.
The outside space is brilliant, a well kept lawn areas where we could play rounders and the dog had he freedom to run around safely as it is not near any main roads of other farms.
We drove a short distance to Markeaton park which is situated in nice surroundings, which has a boating lake and high wire activity that the children enjoyed. We also enjoyed brunch at a lovely pub on the canal called 'the malt shovel'
The manager is highly attentive and professional. I would recommend this venue.

Its a fabulous place to have a family get together. The house is suitable for all ages, we had 4 generations. Pool Table Snooker Table and Tennis court are all good assets to the property. Good supply of kitchen equipment and even in March we managed to do a BBQ. would recommend the house.

We stayed here 12-15 July 2019 as a group of 20 lads.
We stayed here 12-15 July 2019 as a group of 20 lads. This cottage was perfect for us as it included a games room with a snooker and pool table, and tennis court (shared but was only used by us that weekend), and large lawn area for outdoor games such as football and cricket.
The management/owners were easy to deal with. We had no problems getting back our deposit at checkout after inspections.
Improvements:
- some decor abit dated but this was not really an issue for us, just a minor suggestion.
- maybe consider a shelter for bbq area incase of unexpected poor weather.
- only Freeview TV channels available and were lagging a lot.
- consider Wifi.
Only negative were the pesky midges outdoors! Bring insect repellant if staying here.
Overall, this place was just right for our group type. We will be back at some point in the future. It would be great to see a hot tub next time!
