We would like to welcome you to our historic lake-front family cabin. Sit on the deck and enjoy a peaceful view of the lake completely unobstructed and spend time with loved ones on beautiful Lake Almanor! This has been our family's favorite getaway for over 40 years and we would love to share that experience with you.
As one of the first cabins ever built on lake Almanor, it was originally constructed as vacation property for the famous Red River Lumber Co. in the 1920's. When our family purchased the property in 1972 it was expanded notably while retaining a majority of the original architecture.
The main level has the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Each wall is adorned with windows as well as a sliding glass door to the deck giving you a transparent view of the lake from the comfort of the living room.
The upstairs has a large master bedroom and bathroom with separate bathtub and shower as well as lake facing window with an exquisite view.
The lower level is accessed by a separate entrance, downstairs from the deck on the main level. It has two bedrooms, one queen and one double bed as well as a shared bathroom with shower.
Beds - 1 king and 1 twin daybed with trundle underneath (upstairs), 1 queen and 1 double (lower level)
Please feel free to call with any questions, I would be happy to fill you in on any specific details!
Please note that at Lake Almanor all of the docks are dry docked during the off season due to fluctuating lake levels. Our dock is typically out sometime during Memorial Day weekend (could be out all weekend and could just get out on that Monday depending on the dock service schedule) and it typically is taken back in in October early or late depending on lake levels and weather conditions. 2021 we were very delayed due to staffing shortages from all service providers around the lake, we are looking forward to a regular schedule again in 2022! so, if you are looking at dates close to those in and out dates please contact me first to make sure it will be out there. Thanks!
Thanks! Tyler

Amazing location right on the water. We took some great family photos on the deck overlooking the lake. This is an older historic property. If you are looking for a brand-new home this isn't your listing, but my family and I had a great time. Plenty of room, everything you need, in fact even more I think there were 5 TVs.
This is our go-to place when we go to Almanor. It is a beautiful location, view and perfect set up for kids who want their own space/rooms. The deck and great room can’t be beat and Tyler is always super responsive and proactive.
This home is perfect for a private, relaxing stay on Lake Almanor. We have stayed in other locations on the lake, but this property is unique as it is very quiet, has a wonderful deck and dock that we used every day. The home is rustic, but we loved every minute of our stay and will be back next month! thank you for keeping this property as it is as we loved having all the trees, birds and squirrels with us to watch every day!
Communication was so quick and easy! Super nice place with private access to the lake, spent 2 weeks there with my family and I wish I could have stayed forever ❤️
This place was very comfortable and is in a great location. The house faces north so you never get the direct sunlight blasting you in the eyes! The house itself is a bit run down but it had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. I would definately go back! Owner is quick to respond with any questions you may have.
We enjoyed a family weekend getaway to this historic cabin with a gorgeous view. There was lots of hiking around and we did some trails but we mostly stayed around the cabin enjoying the view, relaxing, and playing horseshoes. We found everything we needed and had a wonderful time. No doubt this an old cabin that is slightly outdated but it’s clean and comfortable. The host was communicative and welcoming. I want to go again!

Nice view
Love the location. awesome view. Extremely run down on the verge of dangerous. Our group was fine with it we're pretty blue collar but wow!!!
Would definitely stay again if they waved our cleaning fees or something cause we cleaned for an hour when we got there windows and such..
Needs some work. Beautiful view of lake distorted by dual pane window released and moisture running down between the panes. Couch, the perfect size, is uncomfortable, due to unlevel cushions. Dining room chairs, which there were only 6, were bent in the middle of the cushion and were not useable. There is a bar counter with 4 barstools. That said, the view was spectacular of the lake. Appliances in kitchen worked great, including the RV size oven. Dishes were sparse, 8 plates and flatware for 8. We used paper plates so we werent washing them after every meal. This contributed to our garbage issue. Bring garbage bags. Bedrooms were all adequate. Parking was spacious, we had 3 large SUV's down at the cabin level and there was more parking up on the road. Beautiful walks along road. All-told, we adapted and made it work. It was the best peaceful vacation for after the holidays. 7 people all agreed, it was great.
Great location with a very attentive and responsive owner. The views are to die for - we lived on the deck and in the great room. It's a little dated, but as long as you don't get hung up on the little things, this house is great! The only concern I'd have, is if I were bringing some older folks. The dock, due to water being low, was a little rough for the grandparents. We had to put the boat on a buoy each night because of the wind and attempt to drop everyone off on the dock. It took some maneuvering, but we made it work. Would I rent again - absolutely!
We spent 5 nights with two families of 4. Plenty of room for all of us adults and 4 teenagers, plus two dogs. The deck is amazing! I especially appreciated the gates on both sides to keep the dogs in when it wasn’t swimming time for them. There are lake views from everywhere in the house!
The house could use some TLC (updating, some general repairs of normal wear and tear for a 40+ year old home). Despite that, it was clean, comfortable, and the lake did not disappoint!
Very quiet area, and Tyler was wonderful to communicate with. Any questions about what the house had before we got there, he was super quick to respond, and if we were looking for something while we were there, same, quick response.
It was a great getaway!
Needs cleaning but affordable spot to stay with amazing views
As other reviews mention, the house needs a little TLC and update but it's not a deal breaker especially for low maintenance folks like us. What we came for was the view and it did not disappoint.
There was some lack of cleaning..from hairs on the couch, toothpaste stains in the sink, food specks in microwave, etc. But overall the beds were clean and linens washed from what we could tell. The biggest drawback was the couch. It needs replacement..it sunk it so much that no one in our group wanted to sit on it and instead spent our game nights on the dining room table.
We found most things we needed in the kitchen to make meals, beds were comfy to sleep on, and most furniture in good shape (besides the couch). The view from the living room and bedroom and affordable price helps overlook the few flaws we found in the house. Would most likely rent again.
The house needs updating badly. The refrigerator was not clean. Vegetable leaves were left in the bins, and the bottom of the frig was caked with red stuff. Someone left their drink in the fridge, which I tossed. The microwave was not clean. Upstairs, there were dead gnats all over the sink area. The wood floors had a lot of dust bunnies. We did not have access to the entire house even though it was advertised as 3 bedrooms, 3 baths. The living room sofa was the most uncomfortable sofa that we've ever sat on to watch movies. The coffee table is very stained. The upstairs window would not close. There was no heat in the downstairs living room/dining room area. None of the windows to admire the beautiful view were washed. Disappointed in the property for the cost. Compared to another property that we rented on the lake, it was a disappointment in cleanliness!
We had a great stay. The location is terrific, right on the lake with a beautiful view. The house is older and outdated, needs some maintenance work. Has WiFi provided, new TVs. The awesome location, deck facing the lake, early morning coffee and dinner on the deck is heaven. Great communication with the owner. Thanks!
My family of 6 stayed here and had a great time. Did my kids get a few splinters, yes. Was it forgotten about during swimming all day, yes. The house could definitely use a little TLC. But at the end of the day having the deck, dock, buoys and access right there can't be beat. We already book for next year.
This is an older property. It could use a lot of upgrading but was clean inside and very well equipped with kitchen equipment, a new washer and dryer, a new awning over the deck area. Carpeting is dated. The flooring upstairs and the deck downstairs need some work. The dock has some issues. The railing is badly weathered and you will get splinters if you slide your hand on it. The same goes for all the railings on the stairs outside of the house on the stairs. The kitchen is large and fairly a nice lay out. The counter is tile with dark grout and a large butcher block island. A double sink and a prep sink comes in handy. The electric oven and stovetop plus a large microwave an kurig coffee maker plus toaster and large refrigerator with top freezer with 5 ice trays makes ice quick. There are plenty of cabinets and countertop areas. The 4 counter barstools make the livingroom/kitchen area very open for entertaining. The 6 chair dining table also is in the great room overlooking a great view of the lake. There is two parking places at street level, big enough for a boat trailer and truck parking. There ia also a parking area at house level for more vehicles the only problem is the driveway down is very steep and might be for 4 wheel drive if the weather is bad.
All in all, a fun time was had by all. We caught bass and trout from the dock. The dock is high out of the water and not good for shallow draft boats.
We had a very enjoyable week-long stay here with family to celebrate Father’s Day. The property has a spectacular view and a private dock. The house was clean and ready for us. The open kitchen into the living room makes for a great entertainment area that can include everyone. This includes those on the deck if the sliders are open. The place has a few quirks like having to go outside to get to the 2 lower-floor bed rms, but it was no big deal. The beds were all comfortable and the 3 bathrooms were very much appreciated! The kitchen is pretty well stocked, but as always, if you need specialty items, bring them. Washer and dryer with soap provided came in handy. We would definitely consider coming again!

Family gathering place
The location, views, and lake access were fantastic for our needs however there were some safety concerns. Inside stairs to top floor had no railing on one side and the gas wall heater at the bottom of the stairs posed a danger toddlers. Also, the deck was fantastic for adults buts 2 year old and dog was able to fit between rails so it posed a fall hazard. Stairs to roadside parking were a bit unsteady.
First impression of the place was disappointing as there was trash scattered all over outside. That was probably caused by a bear's access to the trash can. We did see bear scat around the yard. The insde was dusty and the bathrooms only had half rolls of toilet paper. There were not enough towels and washcloths for everyone (example: downstairs had one bathroom that was shared by 2 bedrooms but it only had one towel). The sofa bed on main floor was broken and could not be used. Owner stated he will be replacing that soon.
Despite the deferred maintenance, cleaning, and stocking we did have a great time. The open floorplan on the main level with the deck was great for our multi generational family to gather and enjoy each other's company. We just did not anticipate having to purchase toilet paper, dish soap, towels, shampoo, paper towels, etc. It would have been nice to have some board games or puzzles, etc. like other VRBO places have had for us in the past.
