The Alaska Airlines flight attendant said, "Have a magical day," just after we landed in Juneau. I thought it was cute. Little did I know I was in for several magical days. Otter's Hideaway and the host, Ela, are incredible. Read the other reviews about how comfortable and thoughtfully appointed it is. For me, the magical part was outside.
I didn't just get to see porpoises, eagles, ravens, otters, and sea urchins and stars, I got to experience how they live. The ravens hunted worms. Sea stars clung to rocks as the tide went out. A pair of eagles spent most of their day perched in pine trees or sitting an a nearby dock. And the porpoises were almost always feeding and playing on the cove.
I experienced a lot of great things during my stay in Juneau, but the best thing was being connected to nature at Otter's Hideaway. Thank you Ela (and Mel)!
