About this property

The Eagles: Three bedroom, pet-friendly holiday cottage in Aberffraw

A character cottage just 250 metres from the tidal estuary and close to scenic coastal walks.

Check In: 4pm | Check Out: 10am

The Eagles is a superb character cottage with a modern twist. The accommodation features a small garden and has been refurbished throughout whilst retaining its rustic charm.

Here you enjoy the best of both worlds, a peaceful countryside environment on the edge of the tidal estuary (250 metres from The Eagles), a short, beautiful coastal walk to the famous St Cwyfan's Church (Church in the Sea), three minutes walk to the beach and six minutes drive down to the coast.

Living, dining and cooking

On the ground floor, there is a spacious living and dining room with wood floors and beamed ceilings that run throughout the ground floor.

The living room is furnished with two comfy sofas, an armchair, and a large flat-screen TV. The cosy space also features a fireplace and central heating and is a lovely place to snuggle up with a classic movie during autumn-winter stays or perhaps a family games night?

There is also a dining table to seat six guests.

Moving through to the contemporary kitchen. Here you have everything you need to cook up a storm during your stay and a breakfast bar where you can enjoy a quick snack or plonk down your glass of wine while you prep dinner.

On the ground floor, there is also a family bathroom that features a walk-in shower, a roll-top bath, a Victorian high-level cistern toilet and a washbasin.

Sleeping arrangements

Head upstairs to the three spacious bedrooms also featuring wood beam ceilings and with the added benefit of skylights which allow natural light to flood in during the day.

There is one super-king-size bedroom, one further double bedroom and a kid's bunk room. An ideal set-up for family holidays.

The bathroom on the first floor features both a large walk-in shower and a bath.

The landing area has two feature window seats maximising the space and creating two secret reading cubbies where you can relax with a good book or watch the world go by.

The Nitty Gritty
There is one dedicated parking space approximately 30 metres away from the property in a separate private parking bay. An additional car can be parked in front of this space. The Eagles is pet-friendly, welcoming two well-behaved pets. This property provides one travel cot and one high-chair - We don't provide a travel cot mattress and cot linen. On arrival you will receive a complimentary welcome pack with a few essentials to get your holiday started the right way.

Who is The Eagles for?

All about Aberffraw

Aberffraw is a small, quiet village on the west coast of Anglesey at the mouth of the gently flowing River Ffraw, renowned for its spectacular sand dunes and immense stretch of sandy beach.

The village itself sits on the site of a medieval ‘llys' (princely court), which was home to the Royal House of Aberffrawfrom which Llewelyn Fawr or Llewelyn the Great, descended.

Llewelyn was the de facto ruler of all Wales for 40 years. There is no denying the historical importance of the House of Aberffraw with many local places and names still bearing reference to this era.

Today Aberffraw is a peaceful and scenic get-away-from-it-all village. Ideal for guests looking for a tranquil base to explore the Coastal path. It is a walker's paradise with plenty of trails for all levels.

Follow the path down the estuary to catch a glimpse of local bird species and where the river meets the sea, you can take in the inspiring sea and mountain scenery, with Bardsey Island and the Llyn Peninsula beyond.

Head in the other direction and you may catch cattle grazing gently in the heathland, as you head over the impressive sand dune range to ‘Traeth Mawr', which literally translates to ‘big' or ‘great' beach with its endless sand dunes, Traeth Mawrhas been called the Sahara of Wales!

Aberffraw Village has a village shop that's on hand for all the essentials and you can sample the delicious cakes served at the Llys Llewelyn tea rooms (open Wednesday - Sunday). The pub ‘Y Goron' or ‘The Crown' is currently closed until further notice.

The Church in the Sea or ‘St Cwyfan's' church is another must-see during your trip to Aberffraw. Built in the 7th century, the church now stands on the islet of Cribinau separated from the mainland by years of coastal erosion.

Against the odds this beautiful little church stands proud and bravely on a rock, and is quite a sight to behold. Church services are held regularly in the summer months, with occasional weddings and christenings, all of course romantically dictated by the tides! The cove in which the church sits, is a gentle walk of about a mile from Aberffraw village.

Further afield the larger village of Rhosneigr is four miles away by road or seven miles if you take the coast path – trust us, you won't be disappointed. There is a daily, regular bus service for those who don't want to walk back!

Whatever your plans for your Anglesey holiday, you will not fail to be charmed by the historic, proud and immensely scenic little Welsh gem that is Aberffraw.

Perfect location for beach walks
The Eagles is so cosy and feels like a home from home. Very well equipped but the main sofa needs to be replaced as it’s not very comfortable

Sons 30th birthday holiday
Attended as a family for youngest sons 30th birthday. Cottage was absolutely gorgeous. Couldn’t of asked for a better location - very quiet beach at the end of the road

Visiting family
Very nice cottage, very clean. Everything you could think of was in there. Only issue we found was the downstairs shower leaked, the door doesn't shut probably and leaves a gap for the water to come through.
