About this property
4* House / Beautiful Sea Views / Woodland Walks / Dog Friendly
Forming the west wing of the 18th Century Corsewall House, Garden Cottage is a luxury 3-bedroom self-catering cottage on Corsewall Estate with wonderful sea views across Loch Ryan.
The living area downstairs is open plan with a stylish kitchen including a Belfast sink and large dining table. The spacious sitting room, furnished with arm chairs and sofas, is south facing and overlooks the extensive estate gardens, which in spring burst with colour from the Rhododendrons and Azaleas. There is twin/double bedroom with zip and link beds on the ground floor with an en suite bathroom. There is also a shower room & WC and a utility room. Upstairs, there is a twin and a double bedroom with a bathroom and en suite shower respectively.
All linen, white towels, extra thick, feather-filled duvets and pillows are provided. Heating and electricity are also included in the price.
Garden Cottage is equipped with a bean to cup coffee machine, Smart TV, DVD player; Roberts radio, Bluetooth speaker and WiFi, a selection of board games and books. It has its own private garden area including garden furniture, croquet set and a barbecue. Garden Cottage is eco friendly with the power being generated from one of the Estate's two wind turbines while the heating and hot water are provided by a biomass boiler.
We provide a welcome pack for guests on arrival including a jar of home-made Corsewall brownies, milk, bread, jam, butter, tea, coffee and fresh flowers from the garden (when in season). You'll find the cottage well equipped with the general basics too from washing up liquid and bin bags to washing powder and loo paper.
We've recently created a host of magnificent woodland paths and coastal walks around Corsewall Estate for guests to enjoy during their stay. There are lots different options for shortening the walks or lengthening them. Many guests comment that they love the new paths as they don’t need to drive anywhere to walk – it’s just a case of stepping outside and the walks are right on their doorstep.
Corsewall Estate has three pretty beaches on Loch Ryan - Boat Bank, Lady Bay and Port Beg - that Garden Cottage guests can explore. A pretty walk down one of the drives will take you to Boat Bank, which is the nearest one to Garden and Stables Cottage. Both Boat Bank and Lady Bay are wonderful spots if you like collecting shells or pebbles - oyster shells and mussels to cowries and scallop shells never fail to disappoint. Bird watching down on the shores of Loch Ryan or in the woods is second to none. Lady Bay is a pretty bay on the Estate which is ideal for paddling, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Garden Cottage has huge lawns in front of the house - so it's a great place for children to play football or for a game of croquet - croquet set supplied! There is a singles tennis court, large trampoline with safety net and a great climbing frame with a play house, slide, climbing wall and swings. There is also an indoor games room with table tennis and air hockey tables.
The cottage is located in over 20 acres of gardens and woodland. In late January and February, the woods feature charming drifts of snowdrops followed by daffodils and in April and May the hue turns to purple with acres of bluebells. There is colour in the gardens throughout the year starting with camellia from January to March, followed by a riot of colour in April and May as the rhododendrons and azaleas come into flower.
There is oodles of wildlife to spot – from roe deer and hares to barn owls, woodpeckers and most importantly, this area is one of the last bastions of the red squirrel.
The Blue Peter pub in the village of Kirkcolm is 10 minutes' walk away and does good pub grub.
Two dogs are very welcome at the cottage - there are lots of lovely walks for them around the estate and down to the shore. We charge £25 per dog per week/£20 per dog per short break and we ask that you let us know in advance to book them in.
We have a second cottage, Stables Cottage, about 50 metres from Garden Cottage, which sleeps 4 - so groups of up to 10 can easily be accommodated in both locations.

The Carrick-Buchanan family has owned Corsewall Estate for over 200 years. When Angus and Kate Carrick-Buchanan moved to Corsewall House in 2002, they set about renovating a number of properties including this pretty wing of the Corsewall House so we could provide luxury, high-end holiday accommodation.
Why they chose this property
The Carrick-Buchanan family has owned Corsewall Estate for over 200 years - Garden Cottage is one of a number of houses and buildings on the historic, 3000-acre Corsewall Estate.
What makes this property unique
Garden Cottage, forming the west wing of Corsewall House, is a wonderful holiday house with 3 bedrooms and 3 en suite bathrooms and a house shower room - so it's ideal for families getting away together. The house is in a quiet and peaceful location in south west Scotland, far away from crowds, traffic jams and the stress of everyday life. It has a fabulous network of wonderful woodland walks and coastal paths - which are right on the door step and the nearest beach is a 10 minute walk away.
