About this property

You have the top of the house! Family Bedroom with large en-suite bathroom.

Although it looks small, the house has 4 floors and is over 130 years old. The space for guests is the whole of the top floor. You don't have access to the rest of the house, but will get a key to the front door and alarm fob. We expect guests to lock the front door when coming in or when exiting for security.

It's ideal for people wanting to self isolate. We have completed a risk assessment for Covid and have put procedures in place accordingly. If you don't want us to service the room, we can work round this easily.

It's a large room with two double beds and a huge bathroom with a large walk in shower. It's in a quiet street and all our guests say how quiet and relaxing it is here. You can book a maximum of 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children. Not suitable for babies.

Please note that there are two flights of steep stairs, so if you have mobility problems, this may not be for you. If you are fit then it's easy.

It's a half mile (800 metres) from the Manchester Orbital Motorway, M60. It's also a half mile (800 metres) from two Metrolink tram stops and 200 yards (metres) from a bus stop with buses to Manchester or our local town of Bury, with its world famous market.

There is also a fridge/freezer, microwave oven and a one cup at a time hot water dispenser, with free coffee, tea, sugar and UHT milk.

There is a large wardrobe with hanging space, shelves, safe, iron and hairdryer. An ironing board also provided. There are 14 small sets of drawers for your belongings.

The TV has Freeview and Netflix.

Please note that the whole house is no smoking and there are smoke alarms all over. This accommodation is the whole top floor, so for smokers you may find it inconvenient. This is because the only place to smoke is in the front garden or street. This means coming down and going back up two flights of stairs and unlocking and locking the door every time! Also, everytime the front door opens there is a loud buzzer sounding. (Door alarm for advising us of entry/exit for security).

We stopped providing breakfast, as there are good cafes around here, if required. See our list on the noticeboard in the room of 25 takeaways, cafes & restaurants, all within walking distance.

Hi there,

My name is John and my partner for 26 years is Chris. We both lived in Spain for over 8 years near Valencia and in China for over 2 years in Shenzhen. We both like travelling but have now settled down in Whitefield near Bury, Greater Manchester and lived here since 2013.

We live near a major bus stop for buses every 10 minutes into Manchester City Centre or Bury, our local town. It's only a 10 minute walk to either tram stop (Metrolink) where a tram will get you to Central Manchester in 20 minutes, or Bury in 10 minutes. There are at least 12 good restaurants and several pubs within walking distance. There are also many takeaways in the area. A full list is on the notice board and we give you a welcome pack with lots of information including this list.

Within a one mile walk on side roads is the entrance to our beautiful countryside where you can go off in all manner of Directions and always be totally in the countryside. These walks are by rivers, canals, several parks and a disused railway track. You can walk or cycle on these, all the way into Manchester or Bury and beyond. John walks these with Chris and also cycles them on his own. There is some beautiful countryside so close to us. If you have a car, then we can direct you to beauty spots further afield.

Chris is a fully qualified IELTs and ESOL teacher and would love to host students who also have a requirement for English Lessons during their stay. Chris also used to speak fluent Spanish, but is a little rusty now.

We hope you will give us the opportunity of meeting you and making your visit to Manchester enjoyable and memorable too.

All the best,

John & Chris
