About this property
French Gem: Rustic Cottage, Poolside Bliss
"Escape to Le Petite Coindries: Forming part of 4 gites Le Petit Coindries is a charming French cottage for four, featuring a cozy living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a unique blend of historic charm. Downstairs, a bedroom with a double bed, while an upstairs twin-bed room is accessed by a low door. The main bedroom opens to a private area with a BBQ. Dating back to the 1800s, Les Petite Coindries is a restored farm building with original oak beams and log burner. Surrounded by a walled garden and picturesque countryside. Immerse yourself in the heart of France, with chateaux, vineyards, and charming markets at your doorstep. An uncrowded retreat for an unforgettable getaway."
Les Coindries can be found 7km south of Richelieu - famous for its Cardinal of the same name the most powerful man in France during the reign of Louis XIII. The Cardinal spent his early life at the beautiful (though now partly ruined) Chateaux de Coussay and later building a magnificent palace and town of Richelieu, filled with Renaissance statuary. The great palace was later demolished, but the huge park remains including the moat and island on which the Cardinal first built the palace. The park is a wonderful place of a walk or bike ride at anytime of year. This little known citadel is an architectural jewel of France and can be reached in 10 minutes from Les Coindries.

About the host
Hosted by Robert and Claire Sheppard

In September 2016, we relocated from our home of more than 25 years in a bustling area of Kent to Les Coindries. This move marked a significant change for us, having raised our two sons in our previous long-term home. With backgrounds rooted in the construction industry, we also have experience in owning and operating children's daycare, after-school, and holiday clubs.
Why they chose this property
We were attracted to the enchanting region of France where Les Coindries is situated, captivated by its expansive landscapes, historic medieval cities, charming chateaux, and picturesque gardens—all conveniently accessible by a short drive. The tranquility, abundant wildlife, and the allure of numerous restaurants and vineyards contribute to our appreciation of this area. Embracing rural life, along with the warm hospitality of the local community, further enhances our affection for living at Les Coindries.
What makes this property unique
Le Petit Coindries Cottage is the cottage together with three gites collectively known as Les Coindries. Nestled within a private walled garden, these stone buildings, adorned with tiled roofs, are situated along a tranquil lane and surrounded by expansive arable land. Meticulously restored and converted, they seamlessly integrate the original oak beams and timbers.
Each cottage features its own patio and BBQ area, providing a charming space to unwind with a refreshing glass of wine after a day exploring the serene and picturesque locales in this area.
The serene courtyard and garden create an idyllic setting for relaxation, offering respite from the demands of daily life. An expansive gazebo seating area within the courtyard accommodates up to 14 people, providing a perfect spot for al-fresco dining.
The swimming pool, situated in its secluded walled enclave, is accessible to all Les Coindries guests. It includes a changing room equipped with a fridge stocked with cold drinks and a coffee machine for guest convenience. Additional amenities encompass an outdoor solar shower, ample sun loungers, chairs, tables, and an array of pool and garden games and toys.
Guests can utilise a separate, well-lit car park for their convenience. The site welcomes both individual and group bookings, with accommodation available for up to 14 people.
