About this property
Unique 9 bedroom Church, Historic Market Town.
This superb nine bedroom (19 guests) former church is located in the historic market town of Strathaven, South Lanarkshire. Boasting superb park views, central location, expansive interior, original features, the church makes for a unique holiday stay.
The town was granted a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Town of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The town is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water and is around 18 miles (29 km) from Glasgow. The A71, which connects Edinburgh passes through the town.
The church enjoys a beautiful, yet peaceful location within the town. Situated next to Allison Green, the church has direct access to the park, which is well kept, has lovely flower beds and the Powmillon burn which flows through the town on its way to the River Avon. On the other side of the church lies the John Hastie and George Allan Parks. The Parks are well worth a visit, and through the summer you can enjoy boating on the pond, a railway journey on the miniature railway, lots of fun on the putting green, and plenty of space to relax and appreciate the open space. During the summer the Park is used for the Strathaven Gala celebrations, including the famous Duck Race down the Powmillon burn and in August is the venue for the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Family or friends gatherings welcome. Sorry no Stag or Hen Parties.
