About this property

Y Felin is ideally situated to explore Carmarthenshire's beaches and castles.

Y Felin is a self-catering barn conversion which has maintained its character with the original oak beams and a wood-burning stove. It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, one king-size, one family room and two twins, one with disabled access and a wet room. Each bedroom has its own TV.

There is plenty of space for the family in the sitting area with two three-seater settees and a two-seater settee with a TV and DVD player. Relax and enjoy a coffee on our leather settees on the mezzanine floor with the vaulted ceiling. The dining area seats ten comfortably and the kitchen is well equipped for a large family with a fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There is a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Outside there is a Jacuzzi hot tub on the patio and a table and chairs, a large enclosed garden and a barbeque.

Children can enjoy the play area which has swings and a slide, ride-on buggies and a trampoline. There is a large blackboard for budding artists and a table tennis table in the covered barn opposite.

The farm overlooks the ancient town of Kidwelly with its magnificent medieval castle and church. There are breath-taking views of the sea and countryside with footpaths around the farm including one directly down to the town and castle.

We are ideally situated to explore Carmarthenshire’s many attractions. You will be spoilt for choice for castles and beaches in the area, with Pembrey Country Park only 4 miles away. The old market towns of Carmarthen and Llandeilo are well worth a visit.

The beaches of Tenby, Saundersfoot and the Gower Peninsular are about an hour away and Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacon National Park are within easy distance.

Large property for big family gathering who enjoyed celebration weekend.
An impressive barn conversion with outdoor covered spaces that children enjoyed. Everyone had a great time. Only a couple of criticisms that the kitchen was tight for catering for 10 guests and some of the beds were a bit basic given the price of the accommodation.

Relaxing weekend
The house was lovely and beautiful sea view. Loved the haven created with the hot tub hidden away for peace and quiet. Great ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms and super cosy living spaces. Absolutely loved our stay!

A wonderful Christmas at Y-Felin
The cottage was gorgeous and perfect space for the 4 adults and 5 children who stayed. The garden and play area for the kids was perfect and the hot tub was a fab Christmas treat! Ann and Peter made sure we had everything we needed. It was warm, clean and we would love to go back! We visited Llansteffan beach which was lovely, and was planning on Kidwelly Castle, but closed over Christmas… we’ll just have to go back! Kidwelly has a huge co-op so no need to pack your car full of food! Thank you to Ann and Peter Christmas family 2022

Beautiful place
We had an excellent time at your property. We hiked and explored the area. We all loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom nearby. We were all blankets to stay and have our own space while there. We will definitely be back since you are so close to family that lives in Ferryside!

Beautiful place
Had a lovely stay, very quiet and enjoyable. Friendly hosts. Hot tub was a big hit with all. My only gripe would be that some of the beds aren't very comfortable. But would highly recommend staying here.

About the host

Hosted by Peter and Ann Francis

Host profile image
Peter and Ann have farmed Penlan Isaf since 1987.
We used to have a milking herd of 200 cows but diversified into holiday accommodation 8 years ago.
The barn was falling into disrepair and so we converted it into a luxury self-catering cottage.
Since then we have expanded into the Glamping business and now have 2 Safari tents and a Shepherd's Hut. We also provide B&B in the Farmhouse.

Why they chose this property

Peter and Ann have lived here for 32 years and it holds wonderful memories of bringing up their family. The farm is set in a fantastic location, set in the countryside but only 4 miles from the coast.

What makes this property unique

The barn has maintained its character with the original oak beams in the high vaulted ceiling.
The views outside of the countryside and nearby coastline are spectacular.
