About this property

Off grid on the road less travelled, come experience Papua New Guinea.

Experience a little of Papua New Guinea with its fascinating & diverse culture. Getting away from it all can mean different things to different people but to truly experience life away from the modern world, off grid accommodation holidays are pretty hard to beat. Wild and remote in a small village in Iokea in the Gulf province of Papua New Guinea is Moroipi lodge. We offer village based accommodation in the traditional Melanesian thatched huts, where all the material used are sustainable and locally sourced. All our huts or cabins face the ocean with full sea view, our facilities are traditional and comfortable. Each hut has a balcony, we provide a mattress which is laid on the locally woven mats, bedding and mosquito nets are also provided. There is no electricity in our village so we provide solar lamps and torches. There is a thatched shower enclosure, buckets are used and water is from the ground well. There is a shared self composting pit toilet that is raised with a seat. We are 6 hours from Port Moresby the capital of Papua New Guinea where the nearest airport is. For transfers and transport arrangements please email us. We are rural and remote, we may not speak your language but we can teach you ours. Come on an adventure to Moroipi Lodge. For any further information please email us.

Why they chose this property

Traveling to rural locations allows for you to experience a more sustainable way of life, learning a traditional way of life. It gives a sustainable income to local people and transfer of culture that benefits all. This is a simple lifestyle with the luxury of time, endless skies, long walks on the beach, lots of swimming and star gazing. The simple pleasures without the hustle & bustle of the modern life.

What makes this property unique

Due to our rural atmosphere & village setting, all meals will be provided by the care taking family. Most of the menu will consist of locally grown vegetables, depending on whats available on the day, it could consist of fish freshly caught on the day and any game/wild meats that become available. Much of your menu will be what's available day to day as there are no big supermarkets & electricity so everything is what is sourced fresh daily. You are welcome to gift or appreciate your caretaker family with a small financial token as you see fit.
