Charmingly renovated barn in a winegrowers' village
Part of a large property, this recently renovated old barn (17th century) with great views on a large private park is the ideal place to relax. Close to Reims, it provides a perfect location to discover wine cellars, visit battle fields, play golf, bike, or hike in the vineyards. The building is L-shaped. Most of the rooms face both East and West. A very large living room with an adjoining kitchen is located on the ground floor. An additional sitting room is on a mezzanine overlooking the living room. Three large bedrooms, each over 30 square meters, and two bathrooms are on the first floor. The park comprises a swimming pool, open in the season, and many quiet places to read and relax.

Absolutely wonderful and quintessentially French country home with a caring and gracious hosts. A place to return to enjoy the surroundings and of course a glass of Champagne either at the beautiful garden, cafe outside the house, or a number of champagne houses in the village or the area.
We had a wonderful week in Trigny, enjoying the spacious house, the parklike garden and the pool. We also enjoyed the very friendly reception by the hosts. Trigny is a beautiful village, surrounded by attractive countryside. There are several independent champagne producers and it is definitely worthwhile paying them a visit. Reims is nearby with its famous cathedral and beautiful old town. We much enjoyed our stay in the beautiful house and hope to be back soon.
The best hosts you may wish for. Even though we had a late arrival, we received a full tour of the house and the garden. A welcome drink, champagne of course, combined with an interesting chat complemented this on the next day. The house is authentic and comfortable at the same time. The garden is a small park and the pool is excellent. My family and I truly enjoyed staying at the house. Highly recommended!
Hosts are very friendly and welcoming but the property is not as advertised. This is Not a private house rental- it is a barn conversion that is attached to the owners house through an open courtyard and another part of the property that is also attached and is rented separately that is not mentioned.
Every window faces the courtyard and there are no curtains on the downstairs windows, front nor back. The owner and other rental house have access to all the gardens and pool and utility sheds (4) in the courtyard around you and the entire back garden and pool (not open)
Whilst there was noone renting the other property, we would have felt extremely uncomfortable having strangers being able to easily see in. We raised our concerns with the owner immediately but they were in the courtyard and back garden every day. This would be fine if it was explained in the listing, and as such we would not have booked this property.
The property has an old world style but the gardens not maintained to the standard shown in the pictures. The back stairs are overgrown and covered in moss. The shutters are peeling paint badly. The furnishings are worn out. There is no TV, but a sound system. A dvd and video are advertised but have to ask for them to be set up. Beds are too uncomfortable to sleep. Il-equipped kitchen. No electric jug or nespresso though pictured. No laundry. It is way too expensive for what it is. It should be half the price.

Thanks for your comments which we note with care. We are sorry that you did not appreciate the romantic atmosphere of the "barn" and of our 19th century family estate in general, with its large park. We regret also that you failed to notice that windows in the kitchen, living room, mezzanine and bedrooms provided ALSO great views of the park. Lastly, you might have pointed out that you rented as a couple a house which is meant to house five persons, hence the rental price which you bemoan. We hope that you enjoy the continuation of your stay in France.
Alexandre and Nicole have clearly earned their reputation as premier hosts! Not only did they give us clear instructions, they met us at the property, showed us everything and then welcomed us with a 6 PM bottle of champagne and delicious treats on their patio! When they learned that we did not have any groceries yet, and they knew the stores were closed, they also provided us breakfast à la brioche and Nichole‘s homemade gooseberry jam which we ate by the spoonful it was so good! The barn/house itself is amazing! The property also has an amazing amount of grounds that are well attended and lovely. The house was very very very spacious - there were so many rooms we did not even use because there were only three of us - and it easily slept six in beds, but you could certainly sleep more if needed. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need - we didn’t end up cooking ourselves but certainly could have. The beds were all reasonably comfortable and the location was very close to Reims - only a 15-20 minute drive. The local bakery in Muizon is not to be missed especially on Mondays!
A part from the beautiful environment the house itself really stands out. Typical French vibe with all facilities needed. Alexandre and Nicole truly understand the essence of hospitality going the extra mile. They made our stay one we will never forgot.
We have nothing but praise for this wonderful and spacious property in a beautiful area of France. The barn conversion is fantastic and the property owners so very helpful for everything - including arranging golf and excursion ideas. We highly recommend staying here.
The property was comfortable and had great character. The large walled garden with flowers, fruit trees and swimming pool were a haven in which to retreat. The location in a small village was quiet, but also only 100 metres from a small pub / restaurant. It was ideal for exploring the champagne trail and visiting nearby Reims. The owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there.
Ontvangst was geweldig. De eigenaars zijn heel aardig en niets is hun te veel. Weten heel veel van de omgeving. Het huis zelf is erg groot. hele grote slaapkamers. Tuin is fantastisch. zwembad erg fijn..
