La Gloire - 1 bedroom paradise retreat for couples

Delightful cottage designed for couple

Renovated to a high standard in 2014, La Gloire is an exquisitely finished 1 bedroom luxury hideaway for couples. Outside is a sun terrace with rose garden, then on the ground floor is a living dining area with fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, hob & microwave oven). There is a living area with TV/DVD. Also on the ground floor there is a full wet room finished in beautiful imported mexican stone tiles.

Upstairs is a super king size bed (180cm x 190cm) with high quality box-sprung mattresses for a good night's sleep. The zip-lock beds can also be separated into 2 twin beds if preferred. French doors lead onto a private balcony with comfortable outdoor furniture, with views over the French countryside.

The cottage benefits from satellite wi-fi access and has thermostatic heaters throughout, along with good quality insulation and windows for all year round letting.

There is plenty of parking space outside and a share laundry facility.

The interior decoration has been carried out with love and a touch of theatre by the owner Mr Daniel Parker, a BAFTA award winning and Oscar nominated make-up artist for the film industry. The result are two delightful cottages full of personality and wonderful attention to detail.

The cottages are surrounded by a large orchard garden to the west, with stone terraces directly accessible from the north and south sides of the house respectively.

Belle propriété dans un bel écrin de verdure. Un régal pour nous comme pour notre jeune chienne Golden. Sur le plan logistique, tout était parfait, il ne manquait rien. Si certains pourraient se plaindre d'un wifi capricieux, j'ajouterai que nous ne venons pas dans le Cotentin en pleine nature pour regarder Netflix, bien que cela soit possible avec un peu de patience ;). Blumenpracht in kleinem Paradies

Unbeschreiblich schön war die Pracht der vielen Blumen und vor allem der Duft der blühenden Rosen auf dem Grundstück. Mindestens genauso wichtig für unseren rundum angenehmen Urlaub war der Hausherr, Mr. Parker. Er beeindruckte mit seiner freundlichen und überaus höflichen Art. Er hielt sich dezent zurück, gab aber bei Gesprächsinteresse unsererseits gerne Infos über die Gegend, über interessante Sehenswürdigkeiten, über sein Anwesen und aus seinem schier unermesslichen Wissensschatz zu Geschichtsthemen. Wunderschönes Anwesen

Sehr schönes Haus mit tollem Garten und großem Grundstück. Alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Sehr gut mitten im Cotentin gelegen. Einziger, nicht so wichtiger Wermutstropfen: das WLAN ist kaum zu nutzen. Salz, Pfeffer etc. muss man auf jeden Fall selber mitbringen. Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Kommunikation mit Daniel war schnell und unkompliziert.

La préparation avant notre arrivée, l'accueil et l'hospitalité de Monsieur Daniel Parker sont irréprochables. Nous avons été très touchés par sa gentillesse, sa bienveillance et son attention. Daniel fell in love with the area whilst working on the HBO Band of Brothers series in 2000, part of which describes the D-day landings on nearby Utah beach and the subsequent battle for the peninsular which is now my home. The peacefulness of the countryside and the emptiness of the local beaches combined with a way of life that has changed little over the last few hundred years makes it ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Because of Daniels' work in film production, his work schedule can be quite hectic and unpredictable and Manuela works as an Ayurvedic doctor in her Berlin based clinic and is a top and acupuncturist also takes her around the world as an international specialist. It is usually with a huge sigh of relief that both he and Manuela return to my peaceful haven to unwind! We hope you will enjoy the farm and the surroundings as much as we do, & whilst we live on site, rest assured your cottage have their own private spaces.

Why they chose this property

The area being so beautiful and the potential of the property and grounds was too good an opportunity to pass up, it has taken a long time, but it has been worth it, I hope you enjoy the place as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

The property is tucked away in a tiny hamlet of its own, extremely private and off the beaten track, although close to the local network of cycleways and a short drive to local shops/bakery and restaurants. And the beaches are fantastic, again just a short drive, and then of course the whole area is steeped in history from the Vikings to WWII and the D-day landings. Please remember that we also accept dogs (up to 2 per booking) to share your relaxing walks with... with the entire family ; )
