Amazing communication with the owner. Such a special space to make memories with loved ones. The upstairs bedrooms are gorgeous as well as the backyard and porch area. Highly recommend this property.
My friends and I enjoyed the house. It had everything we needed for our getaway weekend. Beds were comfortable, lots of areas to gather and great outdoor space. Location is great since it is a bit secluded right on the lake.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving at this beautiful property! The amenities and special touches were thoughtful and appreciated. Thank you for providing the perfect location for our special family gathering!
The house was just as it was described. Lots of room and beautiful views of the lake. We brought our boat to enjoy the lake on Sat! Communication w/ the host was easy. We got to see deer & ducks everyday!
Very much enjoyed the home and the lake -- very secluded and quiet. Home was very spacious and enjoyable. The owner communicated very well -- can't wait to come back!
We really enjoyed our stay- the outdoor space is perfect for morning coffee and meals and we enjoyed watching the deer wander by each day. The house had everything we needed. Location is a bit off the beaten path but grocery stores, etc are just a few miles away. We also visited the alpaca farm down the road which was super fun!
We had a great trip, our stay was fabulous. I had no complaints. It was no need to contact the host at all during our stay. I did contact her prior to our stay and she was very prompt. House looks just like the photos. The kitchen had everything you could think of. Beds comfortable and ample space throughout the entire property. It was 8 of us and no issues with sharing 2 bathrooms. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.
This was the PERFECT place to host our friends for a bachelorette weekend! There was so much space for all of us, we loved spending time outside and we really couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Stephanne was super responsive before, during and even after our stay when someone realized they left some shoes behind. I think some of the girls booked for other times while we were there too! Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Fabulous large lake home with everything you need!
The hosts were gracious and so easy to communicate with. The spacious house is in wonderful condition, all of the amenities you want/need, beautiful view and surrounding property, right down to the perfect large oak out back with a tree swing! A getaway, but still so close to anything you want to do in nearby Flower Mound, Grapevine, etc... Would highly recommend and will return if need a central Texas getaway again, or a place for friends and family to gather!
Beautiful backyard area, clean, very nice remodel.
My only hesitancy was only having 2 bathrooms for 12 people. That wasn’t ideal but never ended up being as big of a problem as I thought it might be. The remodel is absolutely beautiful and we spent one day/evening enjoying the beautiful view in the back yard. It has a wonderful outdoor hang out area. Overall a great place and great for our group.
The house was amazing. Completely blew us away, the pictures online don’t do it justice how big it is. It had everything anyone would need to stay there. Only thing I would watch out for is the grass outside has very very sharp stickers in them. So don’t walk on the grass barefoot! Other than that we loved everything about the property.
I stayed at this property with a group of girlfriends -- there were 6 of us in total. We are all age 60+ and most are from the east coast. We have done an annual December trip to New York and for this, our 15th year, decided to spend a weekend exploring Grapevine and the surrounding area. We couldn't have been happier with this property. The space was excellent, clean, and very well appointed. The property manager was very responsive to any questions we had and help we needed. I highly recommend this property.
My wife and I flew to Texas from Florida for our niece's wedding in McKinney. We decide to book Refuge at the Lake in Flower Mound even though it was an hour away from the wedding venue. We are very glad we did. The house was uniquely beautiful and had everything we needed- a hot tub, a gas fire pit, two large bedrooms with beautiful views of Lake Grapevine, a bedroom with a loft and four full size beds, abundant tables, chairs and couches and much more. However, what made this place worth the drive was the property itself. There are a number of nature trails right off the property that skirt the lake and loop around into the woods. During our wanderings we saw an owl and four large tom turkeys. We also saw a large herd of deer while relaxing on the porch and the trees on the property are a haven for a large number of smaller birds. This property is definitely what it claims to be- a "Refuge".
The house has great potential to be a five star. The accommodations, floor plan, and location is fabulous. It is close to Twin Cove Lake and restaurants. The decor was modern and simple which was perfect for our girl's weekend. I would suggest that details are given to cleaning all areas of the home. It was too hot for us to use the screen-in porch, but it was very dirty with cob webs and gnats. It didn't look like the rest of the home. The door frames to enter the home needed cleaning as well. I would suggest investing in more wash cloths. I think we only had a total of four. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels which was nice for our trip to the lake. I would also suggest lining the kitchen drawers and removing rusted pans etc. Lastly, the house was stuffy. I had to add plug-ins and burn candles upon the arrival of the others. I feel this is something the housekeepers should be aware of. The house didn't remain stuffy for our stay. As there wasn't anything going on with the vents. The beds were very comfortable and the furniture was in great condition. The wooden staircase is beautiful, which adds to the aesthetics of the home. We loved the location of the home. Waking up to a pack of roaming deer and wild turkeys was awesome! There's plenty of patio furniture as well. There are so many fabulous qualities about the home which makes for a great stay.

Nice Place but there are some things that could be improved
Pros: The layout of the house is great and we enjoyed having the card room with the poker table and chips available. This house is clean with exception of the normal rental issues (food left in the fridge that was expired) Lots of utensils and plates for eating. Lots of table and counter space. The air conditioning worked flawlessly and kept us cool on hot days and nights. Overall the place was good but could use some improvements to make it spectacular. I liked the book on the counter giving you the information on how the house worked and the guest book signed by so many that have visited. See Cons for improvements.
Cons: The outside area in the back yard needs some work. Many of the garden area are overgrown and except for a small path down to the lake the backyard grass was unusable because it was overgrown. The Fire Pit also needed some grooming and is not cleaned up as it is pictured in the property. There were several places where ants were around (down stairs bathroom, Living Room) and a good extermination would do that place well. Mostly the house had everything we needed with the exception of a functional ironing board. There was one but it looks like it should have been mounted somewhere and was nearly impossible to use unless you put it between 2 chairs. Some rooms had lights that did not work in the ceiling fans but all of the fans worked (although they were all spinning in the wrong direction for summer, we corrected that). There are some odd step ups and down in the house so be careful when walking through the house or even exiting the 1st floor bathroom as there is a little step up there and 3 of us cracked our toes on that step up.
Some improvements: Put the WiFi password in the book on the counter or change the code to be something other than the default because it is difficult to remember and give to the others. Get some menus from local places that deliver to the property. This place is the last house on the street and a good distance from the restaurants/grocery stores so having those in the book or drawer would allow other options for meals. Overall I am giving it a 4 but it could have been a 5 with some minor changes/work.
