A beautiful apartment in an amazing location so close to the beach. Not a lot of amenities in Spittal but the beach is wonderful and it is close to many other lovely places.

Templars cottage
Another great stay in Templars Cottage, great location, (50m from the beach) spotlessly clean, great accommodation. Definitely recommend. An ideal location, explore the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed or out into the Scottish Borders, Alnwick, Holy island or along the coast, great for the dog.

Another super week at Templars.
Another comfortable stay in this beautiful location. So convenient for everything we need - especially the beach and sea (as well as a super Village Shop which sells excellent pies too).
It’s a real treat to be able to stay here. Many thanks.

Glad we didnt book hotels!
Customer service and contact - excellent. The appt is 50m from the sea and there are great walks along the promanade and history placards everywhere explaining what used to be. The appt has everything you need, well maintained, modern and everything works! It is quiet and very comfortable. Parking is easy and there are some great large stores just 5mins in the car for supplies.

Perfect
I liked the interior and to have all rooms on the groundfloor. WiFi was working perfectly. Parking so close was very convinient. At the beach in 2 Minutes. Christine called on the arrival evening to check if everything was okay. That was very nice. I very much appriciated the little hamper. Thank you. I found everything just as described wien I made the booking.

Perfect for the beach
We had a great autumn half term break in the cottage. John and Christine provide a very attentive service and some lovely local treats to welcome you on arrival. The cottage is well fitted out, very clean and there was ample sleeping space for the 4 of us. It’s easy to find and no difficulties with parking. We chose it for proximity to the beach walking into Berwick and as a jump off point for day trips to Alnwick Castle ( Harry Potter and the gardens) and Holy Island. We ended up spending most of our time on the gorgeous local beach as it was only 100m from the cottage. The easy beach access makes it brilliant for exploring with kids and dogs with the ability to pop back indoors for if the borders’ weather becomes a little too bracing! Great stay and will aim to return

A great little bolt-hole
Templars Cottage is a very comfortable little seaside retreat for two people and a dog, being only a minutes walk from a splendid beach. There is a convenience store just around the corner, and Berwick is within easy reach. Most guests will arrive by car - as we did - but I noticed that there are quite good bus services from Spittal which will take you to Berwick station and supermarkets, also along the Coast and into the countryside. There are many attractive and interesting places to visit - both sides of the Border - and Templars Cottage is a good base for exploration of them.
Tip for Scots ... try the scenic drive from Gifford over the Lammermuirs and down through Cranshaws ... views from the highest points are impressive.

Templars Cottage
Loved the cottage. Some small concerns though 1) no makings on the oven dials as the were worn down which meant that we burned some things. 2) website stated that there was a tv in the bedroom and this was not the case. 3) tv in lounge was not preset to channels which meant a lot of search. 4) toilet roll was of ver poor quality. Would have saved in the long run with a quality brand.
Although I have made these remarks it would not discourage us on returning to one of the properties on your books.
Thanks you very much.

About the host
Hosted by Christine & John, Border Holiday Homes
We saw this delightful apartment and thought it would be ideal for holiday guests as it has all that a guest would need need for a holiday. Its location, so close to the sandy beach, makes it attractive to guests with or without dogs. we are dog owners and it is important to us that we can come on holiday with our pet
Why they chose this property
We loved this old building that has been converted so tastefully. There is an excellent local bus service going to old Berwick and the station so a car is not necessary
What makes this property unique
The enclosed courtyard is very sheltered so that it is pleasant for a quiet cup of tea or a glass of wine. The cycle shed is good to store two bikes safely. The roads in the area are very scenic and quiet so excellent for walking or cycling There is a general store just 2 minutes walk away and a Church nearby for those who want to worship.
