About this property
Cliff Top House No.24 (Sleeps 6. 3 Bedrooms)
No 24 with its sense of space and light has splendid views from every aspect.
The 3 luxurious bedrooms are all en-suite and the romantic main bedroom and en-suite bathroom have completely uninterrupted ocean and fynbos views. Beautifully furnished, spacious and light filled living and dining areas, all opening onto decks with splendid views. Fully equipped kitchen with views opening onto deck with gas barbecue. Gas stove, washing machine, dish washer.
For most of the year, the temperate climate allows all doors and windows to be open, giving a sense of living in nature. When the weather cools down, a wood burning Morso stove keeps the house warm and cosy.
Situated in a protected nature reserve perched high on the cliffs and surrounded by forest, fynbos and ocean, these villas are the perfect getaway for those seeking peace and tranquility. Designed by a multi-award winning architect, the houses blend perfectly with the surrounding landscape in a combination of light, glass, wood and space. Luxuriously and tastefully furnished, all rooms have beautiful views; watch whales and dolphins from the sea facing decks or bird watch from the fynbos deck. Fynbos or Cape Floral Kingdom has the highest density of plants in the world and attracts a myriad of bird and animal life, which can be enjoyed from all areas of the houses. Enjoy numerous walking trails that wind through the nature reserve where wildlife including antelope, zebra, karakul, porcupine and bush pig roam. Ballots Bay where the river meets the sea, is a fisherman’s paradise and is perfect for exploring and foraging.
Villa 24 has 3 bedrooms en suite all with beautiful views. Large open plan living / dining / kitchen, all with spectacular views. Drink sundowners on the sea deck with sweeping views of ocean, forest and cliffs.
Villa 8 has 2 luxurious bedrooms en suite with spectacular ocean views. Positioned directly on the cliffs, whales come in to calve so close you can hear them. Huge pods of dolphin swim past daily. Painted white, this villa has a contemporary feel with beautiful fabrics and exceptional quality linen, kitchen utensils and finishes.
There are many walks in the nature reserve that wind through fynbos and forest, along cliffs, down to rock pools and to the pebbly bay where the Meulen river enters the sea. You can barbecue at the bay or in a magical clearing in the forest.

About the host
Hosted by Sally Kennedy

I am a television producer / director who loves nature, open spaces and travel. Six years ago, I married architect Henry Paine and together we decided to change our lives and leave the frantic pace of city life in Johannesburg and move to live in paradise on the Garden Route where Henry has designed our beautiful Cliff Top Houses. Although our hearts lie in this exceptional part of the world, we fulfilled Henry's life-long dream and bought a sailing yacht in Greece which we sail around the Med each year for much of the European summer.
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with Ballots Heights Nature reserve 15 years ago when I came on holiday. From the moment I drove down the magical winding road through dense forest, over small rivers and through fynbos, I was captivated. I had never imagined a place could be so beautiful. I bought my first piece of this amazing nature reserve and commissioned world renowned architect, Peter Rich, to design my villa. As it is a protected nature reserve, we may only build in timber and natural materials. Peter created a villa that makes my stomach lurch every time I set foot in it! It not only sits beautifully in the environment, it enhances it. 6 years ago, Henry and I purchased the neighboring piece of land and Henry designed and built another villa - if anything even more beautiful than the first with views that take your breath away. In 2015 we built the 3rd villa in the Cliff Top House stable, which is a contemporary masterpiece of glass, clean lines, white painted wood and spectacular views of the ocean and cliffs.
What makes this property unique
The villas are unique, both in their contemporary wooden design but mostly in their position surrounded by expansive ocean, dramatic cliffs, indigenous forest and fynbos. You feel as if you are a million miles from traffic, noise and frenetic city life - and yet we are only 25 minutes from George airport and 15 minutes from shops, restaurants, pristine beaches, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional hiking trails and extreme adventure activities.
