Very nice place and for us a perfect point to either go to the beach or to start excursions further inlands.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Communication, location
The house is very old, charming, lovingly furnished, and has a special character.Unfortunately, we had to realize that some things were not as we had imagined based on the description. The most disappointing part for us was the ground floor with kitchen and dining area: without windows or natural light, stuffy, damp, with a musty smell – it was very unpleasant to spend time there. The patio with its stone wall was delightful but very small (3–4 m²), open to the street, and neither sheltered nor lit. For us with children and a dog, the accommodation was therefore difficult to use.We explained to the host honestly and calmly why we did not feel comfortable and hoped to reach a friendly and respectful agreement. Unfortunately, after she had accepted our cancellation, she reacted in a very uncooperative and irritable manner. For only 2 out of 7 nights she charged us 58% of the total amount and additionally demanded 24 for two bottles of wine, which had been handed to us upon arrival as a welcome gift (quote: “The wine is only for guests who stay 7 nights”). What affected us most was that the host described us to the platform as liars – even though it was important to us to act fairly, honestly, kindly, and respectfully. As always, we left the property in perfect condition. For travelers with different needs than ours, it may certainly be a wonderful accommodation. We wish the hosts all the best for the future and hope they can take our feedback in a constructive spirit.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel Treloar & Jonathan Hesford
I'm Rachel Treloar (Kiwi) and my husband Jonathan Hesford (British) run our own Wine estate with 10 hectares of vines in the little village of Trouillas, South of France since 2006. Our gite is located at the entrance to the winery on the edge of the village.
Why they chose this property
We chose this area (Roussillon) back in 2005 as we believe it's the 'New France' for making rich and beautiful wines, with its old vineyards, great grape growing conditions, and fantastic grape varieties. The plus side of being able to go to the coast, the mountains and Spain easily.
What makes this property unique
This is an old village house that we renovated in 2009 - a little rustic in its charm but with all the comforts you would want on holiday including an Italian shower, aircon, and wifi!
