We have recently acquired adjoining land which gives our guests private access to stunning lakes and an enchanting 18th-century grotto.
It sits next to our wildland, where you can spot deer, an impressive variety of birds and the occasional otter around the reedbed lakes. Experience the mystery and romance of the grottoes. A tunnel, a staircase, and a ruined arch, masked by a fictive cliff. Picturesque, and part concealed there is avaulted hermit's Cell with stone seats and a table, subsidiary grottoes and a tunnel. Romantic winding stairs to upper-level lake.

Wonderful!
It felt like a home from home. A really relaxing stay in a beautiful area. The surrounding grounds are stunning. It’s ideally placed for day trips around Somerset (Wells, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar). The accommodation itself was beautifully presented - spacious, clean, all mod cons. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful wee cottage
Our family of four, plus our dog, stayed at Lower Beeches for two nights. We’d had good communication with the owners before our arrival. The cottage was comfortable, peaceful, beautifully decorated and cosy. The grounds were wonderful and we enjoyed both our evening walks around the lakes. The location was perfect for our stay and very easy to get to from Bristol. We spent the day at Chedder Gorge, which was approximately 25mins away. The village itself had a lovely pub, which we ate in one night, and a really good community field about a five minute walk away from the cottage so our dog could get a good run off lead. All in all we were very pleased with our stay.

Hello.
We are Amanda, Rob & Iona and we live in The Beeches alongside the properties.
Oakhill is a quiet village, nestled near the edge of the Mendips.
The Beeches Holiday Homes are the west-wing that we have recently refurbished to provide a beautiful space for our holiday guests.
They have a different aspect & are completely private & self-contained.

I have a background in creative education, esp. visual art/theatre & retreat hosting; Rob's is in astrophysics, business and also in theatre.

We have been known to write plays, appear in a film with a giant crustacean and do a turn or two of stand up
We have 3 lovely daughters; one still at home.
We decided to move to Somerset a few years ago from London/Herts, found Oakhill and we love it!
We enjoy art and all things hand-made, walking in the Mendips, stargazing and singing in the village choir.
We manage the properties together with Lindsay, our lovely cleaner. Rob bakes the delicious bread, Amanda enjoys the interior decorating.
We have 2 lovely dogs; Oscar & Freddie.
Please ask us if you need anything.
The Oakhill Inn a 3 mins walk, great food & take-aways. Tescos & Aldi in Shepton Mallet, 8 mins drive.
