L'Orangerie
'We had a lovely time at the gite. It was spacious and comfortable, with all our needs catered for. It is in a beautiful area with lots of things to do and see. And our hosts looked after us very well indeed. We would highly recommend it.'

This group of six should have been eight, and we hope that the two who were unable to join them this year, will come back with the rest in the future.
It was gratifying to know that the efforts we went to in providing a 'lactose free' meal for one of the guests were really appreciated (we researched in advance and learnt a lot about milk additives). We hope to see everyone again in the future, and thank them for their kind feedback.

Loved L'Orangerie
L'Orangerie was perfect. Wonderful house, yard, hosts and location. It was very central in Normandy. Nice sights and walking locally but we also managed day trips to Honfleur, Bayeaux, Mont St Michel, and DDay beaches quite easily. Falaise was also interesting and very close.
Jeannette and Andrew are also phenomenal cooks and for a very reasonable extra fee made a wonderful dinner for us one night. We have two kids - 6 and 4- and they loved the house, too. The yard is lovely and perfect for them to run around with a minimum supervision (it is fenced).

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Michele to ensure that this very special trip for her family (especially for her parents who had previously been working in Normandy just after WW2) met all her family's expectations and more. We appreciated their confidence in our property, and we were pleased that they were able to have such a good time - even slotting in a couple of days in Paris en-route back to the US. We very much hope to see them again some day.

A wonderful huge house with the perfect hosts.
Jeanette and Andrew could not be more helpful or kind, they are there within seconds if need be but never obtrusive. They cooked us a fabulous meal and arranged a treasure hunt for the kids which they loved. They go well over and above what is normally provided - we had lots of treats as well as tea, coffee etc.
The house and gardens are huge and magnificent, there was more than enough room for 12 of us, just so much space. The house is spotlessly clean, has everything you need and more.
I cannot think of anything that wasn’t perfect, I highly recommend it.
Thanks again Jeanette and Andrew, hope to see you again.

This lovely group were our first of our 2019 season, and we could not have been happier. It was a delight to meet them all, and it is great to read (and be told by them) that they had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and appreciated our efforts.
Horse-riding, kayaking and climbing through the ‘go-ape’ acrobranche park close by, were just some of the activities undertaken.
We thank them for taking the time to leave this review, and for being lovely guests. We hope to welcome them back in the future

Fantastic holiday!
My family and I (a group of nine adults, three children and a toddler) have just returned from a really super holiday in L'Orangerie. Andrew and Jeanette could not have been more welcoming, and the house and gardens are superb. The meal Jeanette cooked was delicious and a wonderful way to start the holiday and Andrew put on a treasure hunt around the garden for the children, who absolutely loved it! The house was very comfortable, clean and spacious, and the kitchen was incredibly well equipped (it really had EVERYTHING), and very child-friendly (two cots and stair gates!). The garden had plenty of bikes for everyone, as well as games and toys, and a playroom for the children! The area was beautiful with plenty to do (although you could easily entertain yourselves in the house and gardens), and there is a large supermarket a short drive away. We had a fantastic lunch in a nearby restaurant, L'Auberge Auvraysienne (it was so good we wished we'd gone more!) In conclusion, the house and the hosts were faultless and we are already planning a return trip next year!

It is so gratifying to receive such a glowing review from our first guests of 2016. We loved meeting them all, and are so very pleased they had a fantastic holiday. We work hard to maintain our high standards and it is so good to read that it has been appreciated and that our guests find all they need in the house and gardens. We very much look forward to welcoming this lovely family back to l'Orangerie in 2017. We would like to thank them for taking the time to write this review - we are really very grateful, and we count ourselves lucky that we have such great guests staying at L'Orangerie.

Best French holiday home our group has stayed in.
The Orangerie turned out to be a great find for our group: spotless, more space than we expected, comfortable beds and lounge and in a delightful area.
We are a walking/BBQing/social group of retired friends and everything we needed was provided from the equipment and facilities at the house to the hundreds of local walking routes. That together with the interesting and mainly 'undiscovered' Swiss Normandy landscape with bustling towns and quiet villages just made our holiday.
For those in our group less interested in walking there were ample things to do and see in the area.
The owners, Jeanette & Andrew could not have been more helpful.
The superb weather helped of course which allowed us to BBQ every evening and the sheltered outside area with large table was great for early evening drinks but as it gets cool in early September by dinner time we ate at the huge dining room table.
For those interested in 'messing about on the river' a local village provides one way canoeing (mini bus back) down the Orne - a must for those over 8 and who can swim - local regulations.
The nearest town, Falaise has a huge market on Mondays and well worth a visit but get there by 10.30 to make the most of it.
The only downside was that our 'breakfast crew' who normally cycle to the boulangerie before everyone gets up gave up as the hills were too demanding for them - age creeping up on us all!

Many thanks to Tony for this complimentary review. It was a real treat for us to hear that in 6 years of renting in Normandy, this group of discerning travellers, found L'Orangerie to be the best, and are even talking about breaking their usual rule of only visiting a place once, to make a return visit to the Suisse Normande, and again stay at L'Orangerie - where they will be very welcome.
Indeed, they were professional BBQ experts (even been on the Webber course) so they were pleased to find the Webber kettle BBQ as well as the normal grill. The hot early September weather did help make the week a success, and they really appreciated the many walking routes, maps, and the extensive tourist information available in the house.
We very much hope to see them again, and thank Tony for taking the time to write this lovely review.

Fantastic place, thoroughly recommended!
We were looking for a large property which was capable of accommodating a family group of 11 with ages ranging from 21 months to grandparents in their 70s. We have just come back from a week at L’Orangerie and not only found it fitted our requirements perfectly but the holiday exceeded everyone’s expectations.
We found the property itself to be clean and fantastically well equipped both inside and out. The owners have gone to great lengths to make the house safe and fun for toddlers with stair gates, high-chairs and a cot all provided amongst other things. The self-contained garden made for a very safe environment and the gatehouse at the bottom of the garden has been turned into a nursery room which my 21 month and 3 year old both loved. My older nephews and the rest of the group made good use of the wide selection of bikes, outdoor games and football nets in the field next door.
We found the house to be quiet, yet easily accessible and with lots of information on activities to suit all age ranges and interests. Less than 5 minutes up the road is La Roche D’Oetre which provides walking and mountain bike trails. There is also an excellent ‘Go-Ape’ venue just next to the visitor center which several of us spent a whole day at, returning to the house for lunch before going back in the afternoon. The main road between Caen and Le Mans is only a short distance away which made it easy to explore places further afield - we went out to the Normandy beaches on 2 of the days we were there. The variety of things to do allowed us to pick and choose within the group. Whilst we went for a buggy-friendly walk just down the road in Breel, another group were canoeing at Pont D’Ouilly and others were happy just relaxing in the garden.
We would definitely recommend this property and hope to be back again soon!

Many thanks to this guest for describing his experience at L'Orangerie last week. We very much appreciate that it is important for future guests to read recent experiences of the property. We were very happy to be able to suggest some local events that were taking place during the week, giving this lovely family the chance to not miss out on some of the great summer experiences, such as the trotting races at Bagnoles de l'Orne last week, followed by the fabulous firework and light displays over the lake.
We are confident that we will see them all again in the future.

Absolutely fell in love with this place, so much space for all 17 of us. Plenty of supplies and towels. The gite was fantastically well equipped and such a fabulous location.
Jeanette and Andrew were amazing, so accommodating and gave us plenty of advice as to the places to go. The children loved the treasure hunt Andrew made for them.
Both Andrew and Jeanette cooked an amazing meal one night, my husband is still talking about it!! There was so much to do in close distance and the children never once said 'Im bored'. Nothing was too much trouble, we were all so close to staying an extra week as we did not want to leave. It was truly a memorable holiday.
Excellent property - extremely well equipped. Spotlessly clean and well presented - plenty of towels for all 13 of us and the linen was spotless. I have rented many properties over a number of years and this was the best by far. It was exactly what was advertised and more. Jeanette and Andrew were extremely helpful and informative about the area. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
