Welcome to De Oude Pastorie in Macharen. For nearly 200 years, guests have been welcomed to this beautiful home, aptly named De Oude Pastorie. You’ll have De Oude Pastorie, built in 1834, all to yourself as a holiday home. There are various walking and biking trails right outside the door. Whether you’re looking for a lovely overnight stay, a weekend getaway, or a week-long holiday, De Oude Pastorie has it all. You’ll have access to: four bedrooms that can accommodate up to 13 guests in total, a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private, fenced-in garden. The rich history of this national historic landmark dates back to the French era. Typical features of De Oude Pastorie include the clock gables, combined with the thatched roof, the oak-carved laurel wreath above the front door, and the cut-stone joints. The front section, built in 1834, overlooks a large garden with flower beds where you can relax and unwind.<br><br>Both the location and the garden—spanning over 2,000 square metres and largely surrounded by a beautiful wall—evoke a time when peace and quiet, and time spent with one another, were still the norm. Macharen is located near the Meuse River. The river is and always will be a special place to enjoy. It offers you many opportunities to explore the river region, which is home to numerous towns such as Megen, Ravenstein, and Grave on the Brabant side of the Meuse. Water sports are also plentiful here, for example in the nearby lake area of De Gouden Ham, which was created by sand extraction for construction purposes. There are several ferries in the area that you can take towards Gelderland, to Maasbommel, Batenburg, or Appeltern with its famous gardens. Macharen is situated in a beautiful, rural, and peaceful setting. Yet the highways and roads are close enough to allow for quick access to several major cities in the region, offering charming shops, cultural attractions, and delightful dining options.
