DON'T BOOK FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE
Emailed property manager at 0801 hrs on 22.10.19 informing her how irresponsible she was not to make us aware there was extensive building work to the ground floor flat ie: pneumatic drilling, heavy duty hammering and all other building noises and that it was putting quite a dampener on our vacation. Sent further email at 1108 hours as she did not reply. I then emailed the apartment owner through HomeAway at approx 1700 to which Julia David the property manager replied almost immediately stating she does not mention the renovations as ITS THE FIRST COMPLAINT SHE HAS RECEIVED and maybe now they are making heavy works. She goes on to state that if it is really bad for us she can check if she has another apartment but it will be more expensive. That remark by her really adds insult to injury! In an email from her the following morning she again reiterates that NOBODY, she uses all upper case, make complaint and she came to apartment at 19hrs but the builders had gone and that before we came perhaps they were making different noises. PNEUMATIC drilling only makes one noise and is deafening and travels straight up and throughout the building and can be heard on ALL floors. She goes on to offer us a hotel room but we booked an apartment specifically as it suits our requirements. On 24 October she emails to let me know she came at 1700 hrs to see builders to ask them to stop but they had gone home. The following morning our neighbours knock to tell us that someone came and knocked on our door just after 1700hrs yesterday and let themselves in to our apartment when there was no answer. When I raised this with the property manager she vehemently denied it but our neighbour was most insistent that someone opened our apartment door. They were also very distressed with the noise. Of course had Julia the property manager been truthful and honest about the works I would not have booked. The works permit was issued on 9th September for work to commence. The work started long before we arrived and are extensive renovations. The property manager has been extremely underhanded, deceitful and totally in denial that there is an issue. Please be forewarned about this disruptive, noisy and stressful situation when thinking of booking. We have recorded the noise and taken photographic evidence as we now think that the property manager should start to think about compensation for us as we hold her totally responsible. Susan Denny
