This was as bad of an experience as VRBO could make it
I arrive in Tampa and even though VRBO has taken my money for this property I rented and then sent me a confirmation it was available, it was not available because the owner had rented it thru another company. VRBO did nothing to help. I was on the phone on text chains And with live agents for at least three hours. I had to deal with five people and I had to call the host myself who did not to speak any English at all.
VRBO then gave me a voucher that was only enough to cover a crappy two star hotel. I am not kidding. And even though I had rented an apartment with a kitchen for two nights they would not put me up in another room even though they rent units all over the city of Tampa. And in addition to that the voucher that was only good for a two star hotel was only for one night even though I was in Tampa for a family function for two nights and had rented a place that was confirmed for two nights.
I spent my entire Friday evening dealing with VRBO who did as little as possible. They promised over and over and over they would find a place for the next night and someone get would get back to me and no one ever did. I had yet another 45 minute hold while I waited for someone on the phone because nobody answered my emails even though I sent them to the address that I was supposed to get a direct response from.
VRBO lied and left me stranded. And I can't imagine if this was my daughter who is in college and her friends left stranded in some big new city without help.
