About this property

CASTLE ACRE. Cottage set in a Norman village overlooking the Village Green

Situated next to the historic Bailey Gate in the heart of the beautiful village of Castle Acre and overlooking the village Green is Peddars Cottage. Spacious, well presented and well equipped, with the famous Peddars Way and Nar Valley walks on your doorstep.

There is a dog friendly tea room within the village green serving delicious, carefully sourced food and drinks; a perfect way to start or end your day exploring the historical wonders Castle Acre has to offer, including it's English Heritage Priory and castle ruins, built soon after the Norman Conquest. The village store is a short walk away serving all your needs including a post office with the village fish and chip shop next door.

For the children, apart from the endless exploring the village offers, there is a fantastic play park within a 5 minute walk and is very popular with the youngsters in the village and visitors alike. If it's a day at the coast you're after, the stunning North Norfolk coast is only a 35 minute drive away. Why not stop off at Sandringham Estate on route? There's so much to offer.

On entry into the house off the entrance hall you will find a spacious kitchen/diner, the large dining table comfortably seating 6-8. Off the kitchen is a stable door leading into a courtyard garden that offers comfortable outside dining and rattan sofa seating.

Back in the house off the hallway is the spacious lounge. Here you can view village life through the large window to the front. Decor is a mix of both old and new giving a comfortable homely feel.

Upstairs there are three good size bedrooms, two at the front of the house; 1 double and one twin that overlooks the village green with a third bedroom overlooking the historic Bailey Gate. The bathroom is off the landing offering a bath with shower over, pedestal basin and toilet.

Fabulous location.
We were between properties, having vacated our old house in Bucks on 10th and unable to complete in Norfolk until 21st. Peddars Cottage filled that gap with a home from home experience. Great location, spotless cottage with every facility we could wish for. Great comms from host. One word of warning, the local pub, The Ostrich. Massively overrated and over priced. The George and Dragon down the road was better value, better quality fayre and very friendly.
