About this property

Appartamento con 3 terrazze in Piazza Magione

Prestigious apartment with three terraces on the top floor of a renovated historical building, behind Piazza Magione.

Located on the second and top floor of a renovated historical building, this apartment features design furniture, canvas and artistic photographs. The entrance opens to a hallway with a wall bookcase, artistic photographs, armchairs, exposed wooden beams and a skylight. The corridor leads to the living room, which comes with a sofa, an armchair, a TV and a first terrace overlooking Via delle Vetriera. From here guests can reach a well-equipped kitchen decorated with attention to details, with access to the terrace overlooking Piazza Magione and some stairs leading to the panoramic terrace. Back to the entrance, on the right hand side, there is the bedroom with a queen size bed and a full bathroom with a large shower.

The gems of the house are the three terraces overlooking Piazza Magione on one side and Via della Vetriera and dello Spasimo on the other side. From the top terrace guests can enjoy the view over the roofs of Palermo and over the sea. All of them come with outdoor furniture and many plants, in addition to a marble wall with a waterfall that recalls the arab-like style of many historical buildings from Arab-Norman times.

*To reach the apartment guests will need to reach the second floor by elevator and climb a 10-step ramp.

We also offer to our guests truly authentic experiences to live like a local. If interested, contact us and we will be more than happy to help you out designing an unforgettable holiday to discover Italian beauties.

The apartment is in a very central location, perfect to reach the main tourist attractions and to enjoy gourmet dinners or typical meals in “trattorie”. A few steps away there are Palazzo Abatellis, Piazza Marina, Quattro Canti and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Not to be missed is also the “Cala”, the perfect place for wonderful walks during the day and for social life during the evening.

The central station is 10 minutes walking distance and is the end of the line of both trains and buses from/to the airport. From the same station there are several buses going to wonderful places like Monello or Monreale.

Fantastic location; Highest Outdoor Deck; Full of Art
Location: Kalsa, the Historical Center of Palermo... loved it. It is clean, gritty and lively, but quiet. Nearby Piazza Magione is where Falcone & Borsellino (look them up) grew up. Kalsa is great for dining and the Famila Supermercato. Nearby is the via Vittorio Emanuele where you take your evening stroll; no shouting or loud groups of drunks; it is really nice. The 3 Terraces: The unit is reached by a lift for the first 2 floors, then you climb one set of stairs... not a bad climb. The unit is very fresh and beautifully remodeled; and full of original art and a huge wall of books. Everything in the unit ‘fits,’ and is incredibly comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with all large and small appliances. There really are 3 porches; the LR porch overlooks the street; the kitchen porch is ideal for breakfast and the top porch overlooks everything. In all, the unit feels more like a home than a rental. Recommended chgs: 1) Plants on all decks should be removed, thinned or better maintained; get rid of the bush with briars climbing the stairs to the top deck... it will catch your legs every time. 2) The electricity breaker, on the ground floor, flipped-off every night, and during one day, so the AC stopped while asleep. Each morning I trekked to the ground floor to flip the switch for all lights and the AC. This was annoying since The 3 Terraces was the only unit whose breaker flipped. Otherwise, The 3 Terraces is a unique place to live like a local in Palermo.

Good time
Overall we enjoyed our time. We could have used trash bags. dishsoap, towels, toilet paper. We bought what we needed and left the rest in the condo. We washed the towels. We never understood fireworks every night?

Great spot for exploring Palermo
The owner is obviously British and the standard of decoration and equipment reflects this. A comfortable bed and furniture with an extensive library of books music and video. Very good wi-fi and air conditioning too. There is a lift that takes you most of the way with only one flight of stairs to climb, I didn't see on the details but was very much appreciated after a day in the sun. The location is ideal for exploring the old centre of Palermo with easy access to a lot of bars and restaurants that are not in the centre although these are easily reached too. There is a large Sunday antiques market just 5 mins walk (Piazza Marina) which we enjoyed looking around for souvenirs. The market at Ballero is an assault on the senses which must not be missed even if you don't opt to try the street food. We also visited many of the architectural sites and the the botanical gardens - stop off at the Bar Toring just across the street for the best Arancina in town!

May want to look elsewhere
The good- the flat has tons of windows and is very bright, high ceilings, top floor. Close to everything. The not so good- there is a bar about 50ft away. It is very very loud till approx 3am. Then people spill out onto the street and drive with very loud music. The bedroom window faces the street. Luckily it was not every night but I was visiting in March, I can only imagine how loud it will be in the summer. The bad- when I entered the flat, the alarm was ringing. The lady who checked me in said someone might stop by or maybe tomorrow. I commented that I would not tolerate such a loud piercing noise especially all night. She shrugged her shoulders and said they were working on. I disabled the alarm myself. Second, cleanliness was an issue. I contacted Wonderful Italy with some pictures. They sent their cleaning staff who ONLY tidied up the 3 pictures I sent. Nothing else was done even though I stated every surface needed to be cleaned. Third, the flat has an excessive amount of personal items throughout- Nicknacks and tchotchkes. Do you need 6 bowls on the living room table? It felt cluttered and kinda weird being amongst so many personal items. Fourth, there is no mention of taking your life into your own hands to get to the rooftop balcony. There are no bars/railing, it is straight up and well straight down. Super steep and very unsafe. Children could not go up. Anyone with mobility issues could not use them. Turning on the hot water is the responsibility of the guest. Again anyone with any kind of mobility issues would have a difficult time. I had to get on a chair and lean over plants to get too. There are a lack of “how to use” stuff in the flat- took me 40 minutes to figure out the cooktop- yes, I had to consult YouTube. Turning on the hot water does not match the instructions. I would have rated this @ 2.5, but VRBO does not give 1/2.

Fantastic
A place we would happily come back to. It was clean, comfortable and in a really good location. We loved the balconies and watching the mountains change. Listening to life going on around us and enjoying some great food. The apartment felt like a home with so much of the owners personality in it. I loved all the books to browse.
