About this property

Old Brewery Barn Stunning spacious barn, near Ullswater & Pooley Bridge

Old Brewery barn is on part of the site of an old brewery in the picturesque village of Tirril. As well as a stunning exterior of handcrafted stonework and Siberian burnt larch cladding, the Old Brewery barn boasts off-road parking for up to 5 cars as well as large outside areas with views.
Inside there is a large open plan living space with a brand new kitchen and wood pellet stove heating the water and central heating system throughout. On the ground floor, the "Master Brewer" bedroom leaves a generous amount of space around the Supeking size bed (which can be split into two singles if requested) and has its own generous ensuite with a shower. As well as a generously sized open plan living area and well equipt kitchen, there is also a good-sized boot room/laundry where dog equipment of cycles can be stored securely as well as washing and drying facilities.
On the first floor, there are two bedrooms, the larger, being named "Apple" due to its proximity to our cherished apple tree, has a Superking sized bed which can be split into twin singles if requested, as well as its own ensuite with shower.
Just across the hall is the "Chapel" room, so-called for its view of the nearby chapel, its bathroom is adjacent to it and boasts a free-standing bath for long evening soaks.
Outside, as well as the large parking area, there is a gravel garden with a table and chairs and a good-sized lawned area.
Heating is proved by a wood pellet stove, which runs automatically and only requires being filled daily with small bags of pellets, whilst most of the electricity for your stay will be provided by the 5.4KW of Solar photovoltaic panels on the rear roof slopes, making your stay as green as possible.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful location
We had a great stay at the Old Brewery Barn with our children (7 months and 2.5 years) and my husband's parents. The house was very well setup and clean, and was so thoughtfully setup with baby gear. Everything worked well and was comfortable and easy. The little village is adorable and makes access to the rest of the Lake District very easy. We would love to stay again sometime when we can enjoy the garden as well!

Most comfortable stay ever!
Accommodation designed and built with every comfort in mind. You would need to stay at least a week to take advantage of all that is offered in this historic looking but very modern 'barn conversion'.

About the host

Host profile image
We are Ian, Elizete, Maria and Paul Cleasby. We have lived in Tirril for over twenty-five years, having just moved a short distance up the village in April 2019, to East View where we rebuilt an old barn to make Old Brewery Barn.

Why they chose this property

Old Brewery Barn is pretty unique, or at least in our area. Based on the original barn design and shape, but newly built with modern materials and techniques to ensure comfort and energy efficiency, it is part stone-faced and part clad in burnt Siberian larch, sourced directly from Lithuanian.
With ample parking for up to 5 cars and gardens to three sides, the outside space is surprising for a 3 bedroom property. Situated in the small village of Tirril, boasting its own pub and garage it is also just a five-minute drive from the nearby town of Penrith to the East and Pooley Bridge (Ullswater) to the West.

What makes this property unique

Brand new built, only 2.5m from Ullswater and Pooley Bridge, aned only 2.8m from Junction 40 of the M6, Environmentally friendly, lots of off-road parking, secure garden for pets, secure boot room for cycles etc,
