The house was very clean and there is a stunning view on the glacier from the house. It s possible to walk to Arnarstapi from the house (and there’s also a nice little beach at the beginning of the trail).
We had a wonderful stay at Jules Verne cabin. House was spotless, well equipped, owners a pleasure to work with. The setting is stunning, with wonderful sites and hikes very accessible.
All has been perfect from booking arrangements with Gestur, including date adjustements, to an excellent stay in an amazing part of Iceland. We surely recommend and will be back!
This was a perfect place in a perfect spot. Great views, perfect for checking out things in the area and going back to the same place every night made for a great trip for the four of us. Highly recommend!

Wonderful location, easy access to beautiful attractions on the peninsula.Host was very helpful and communicative.House is fairly small, which is not a negative, just something to know.Bedrooms are all upstairs, bathroom is downstairs.Stairs are very very steep by what we were used to in USA.
The stay we had was just what the doctor ordered. This was not a leisure trip, but my mom lives in Olafsvik, and not well. So we drove there daily during our stay. The cottage is very clean, and well equipped. Location was amazing!!

We absolutely loved our time here. The full kitchen and extra space was so helpful for our family with children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Lying in the fields surrounding our cottage, we were starstruck with the celestial display every night. Our accommodations were warm and comfortable. We love Hellnar! Thanks again.
A lovely cottage with amazing views from all windows. You immediately feel at home in: superbly equipped, comfortable and cosy interior, quiet and a perfect location for exploring the peninsula. Even without taking the car, you can make great accessible hikes. The owners are very kind and attentive. I can't wait to go back for longer!

The cottage was perfect for our stay in Snaefellnes Pennisula. The cottage was spacious, clean, and contained everything we needed. The host was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating. The location was beautiful and within an hour’s drive of everything we wanted to see and do (many were within 30 minutes). We would definitely stay here again if given the chance!

all the best,

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. It was comfortable and peaceful. We had everything we needed and it was a calming and comfortable base to explore this beautiful & awe-inspiring area of Iceland. It was also the perfect home in which to sit with a coffee, listen to music, put together a puzzle, and spend time relaxing with my family. I recommend it highly!
Loved my time at this beautiful cottage. So well appointed and every detail thought of. Was looking for a getaway with some solitude and this was the perfect place. Took walks in the area and stopped in the small cafe for a cappuccino one morning and a glass of wine the next afternoon. Had a wonderful meal at the hotel in Budir near the Black Church. Just a great place to stay when exploring the Western Peninsula. Would definitely return!

very nice cottage
everythink was fine and clean and all things you need are inside the house.
The owner was very friendly and kind and we enjoyed our stay.
We would recommend this property, because it also has a wonderful location.
We saw many birds just next to the window and made good walkings around the area, without any other tourists. So thank you very much for this lovely house. Family Mack from Germany

Beautiful house with amazing views
A really great holiday that we will all remember. Super friendly owner, really helpful advice. West Iceland is mind blowing. Wild, remote and breathtaking. Every view from the house was beautiful. We were blessed with orcas in the bay and midnight sun. Such special memories. House is immaculate and has everything for a great stay. Thank you for letting us share such a wonderful spot.

The location is amazing and the rental itself had no issues. My bigger issues is that it is “self clean,” which I normally have no problem with; I love leaving rentals as clean as possible anyways. However, this rental obscenely asks that you wash and dry ALL linens and towels before leaving (true, the last load can be left in the dryer). After using four of the five beds and cleaning in the morning, we were left with a mountain of linens and towels to wash in a single morning. It was an impossible, stressful task that took hours and required us to call the manager to work out some sort of arrangement. I wouldn’t stay here unless you want to waste 5 hours on the day of your departure on washing. Additionally, there are multiple signs in the rental with the check out rules and instructions, but they were markedly different, leaving us very confused by what was expected of us. The owner was kind and understanding. This self cleaning task just felt impossible.
A Comfortable Home Base to Explore the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula
My wife and I spent four nights in this duplex cottage in the town of Hellnar on the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula. We were greeted by an amazing display of the Northern Lights on our first night. The place was comfortable and quiet and had all the amenities needed to feel like home for a few days. The views are stunning--the sea in one direction and mountains and the volcano that dominates the west end of the peninsula in the other. There are several little places to eat within a 5-10 minutes drive and even more if you're willing to drive 30-45 minutes.
Two things to note. First, all the bedrooms are upstairs and the staircase (really more like a ladder) is very steep--going up isn't too bad, but coming down can be a little scary. Second, the bathroom is tight. We adapted and it was fine.
Overall, the home was a great place to explore the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula.
My wife and I have just returned from an 8 day stay in this delightful property. The cottage itself is spotless and well appointed; the furniture in the sitting area is very comfortable, as is the dining area; the kitchen is well equipped, with a very good selection of dishes, glassware, pots and pans etc. All appliances ( range, oven, dishwasher, washer, dryer, microwave) are modern and in good order.
Some rather steep stairs lead to three bedrooms and a cosy sitting area upstairs. The beds and bedding are high quality and extremely comfortable.
As this trip was my fifth to Iceland, we felt no need to be on the move and change locations. It was a real treat to spend the entire trip exploring the Snaefellsness Peninsula in depth. We were out and active each day, and agreed that the coastal hikes were ( for us) best enjoyed in inclement weather….it seemed to suit the drama of the landscape. This is simply a wonderful region.
Communication with the host was clear and efficient, the check in and out procedures were well explained, and we both agreed that this was one of our favourite trips.
Highly recommended !

Quiet and Comfortable in a Beautiful Corner of Iceland
We stayed four nights at this well-appointed home, and were sorry to leave. The cottage is spacious, warm, and well-equipped. The location seems really remote, but we were surprised at all the interesting things to see in the area. There is a beautiful cove a ten-minute walk away, a great space to lose yourself watching the waves crash on the rocks. The walk from there to Arnarstapi is lovely, the climb up the Bjarnarfoss waterfall was difficult but well worth the effort, and the drive to other picturesque towns was very manageable. Unfortunately, the weather kept us from seeing or visiting the main feature of the area, the Snaefellsjokull glacier just outside the window, but weather is a gamble anywhere in Iceland.
The owner of the cottage was prompt in responding to our messages. The cottage had plenty of towels and blankets, a nice shower, washer and dryer, and a good kitchen. The only potential issue with the cottage is the steep set of stairs to the bedrooms - they are not suitable for people with mobility or balance issues, and we found it too difficult to carry our large bags up to the bedroom. So we left them downstairs and had a wonderful stay. We wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this cottage to our friends.
