Welcome to our country home in Dalarna, Sweden. Only 2 hours north of Stockholm yet in the middle of nature. The cross country ski tracks are less than 5 minutes away and the mountain bike and hiking trails lead straight from the house. The forest is on your doorstep and the lake less than a minute’s walk away. Our guests can enjoy the same service as we are known for at Smens Hästgård - order in fresh organic produce for your stay and let us pre stock the fridge or book in for dinner at the castle 1.5 km away. Rent ice skates, bikes, kayaks or why not book in a yoga session or massage treatment for your group. (All additional activities and food is booked separately at extra cost with the property owner)

The house boasts an impressive number of working fire places with plenty of areas for relaxation. Gammelgården comfortably sleeps 8 adults in 3 double bedrooms and 1 room that doubles as the library with a generously sized sofa bed. The farm house blends original features with modern appliances and quite a few Scandinavian design items. Please care for the house as if it were your own!

House with a character

Visiting this house is like traveling back in time, probably 70 -100 years. It seems that the owners did not have the spirit to bring the old house to a modern standard but, in my impression, they even tried to emphasize its small inconveniences. Unfortunately, our stay was very short, and the weather was rainy so we had little chance to really enjoy the place. I can imagine that not everybody will like the place, but I am sure there are many who will be happy to feel the house ambience. In addition, the host was easy to communicate with and Annah gave us very useful pieces of advice.
