La Pineta is a spacious farmhouse nestled in a garden shaded by majestic pine trees. The property sleeps 16 people in total and is divided into five independent apartments, three on the ground floor and two on the first floor, simply and comfortably furnished. Each apartment has a bathroom with shower, TV, washing machine, and fully equipped kitchen. La Pineta is part of a farm of approximately 100 hectares where thoroughbred horses are raised. Horses can be admired grazing freely on the adjacent land. It is the ideal destination for groups and families who love sports and fun and want to spend their holidays together without sacrificing a little independence.

Relaxed holiday

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely couple. We were given a short tour of the house and then given the keys. Our stay was excellent for the rest of the week. There was a large pool and plenty of lounge chairs for relaxing. There was also a nice space, both indoors and outdoors, for everyone to sit together. A supermarket and the town Castiglione del Lago were just a five-minute drive away.

Unfortunately this was not the stay we imagined. I would not recommend booking this home for many reasons. One full apartment was completely not usable as the portable a/c was not functioning and it became a hot bed due to it's damp feel and hot air - as soon as you opened the door it swarmed with mosquitos. All the queen beds were recently made, but unfortunately it became clear that all the single beds were made well in advance of our stay as both our daughters discovered spiders in their beds, and our nephews discovered ants in theirs. The main apartment that has the large dining table does not have air conditioning at all. We weren't planning on having to use that bedroom, but since the insect/bed incident and having one full apartment not habitable we were forced to. Thankfully someone dropped off fans after requested. A request for a portable crib was ignored. No tennis rackets were provided and the tennis court was not clean. I wanted to love this home so badly as I had booked it for a family reunion but unfortunately the whole time I was running around trying to get everyone comfortable, something that never happened in the end.
