What makes this property unique
One of the most attractive locations in the region is undoubtedly Vela plaža, the most popular among those who come to swim in this area. One of the symbols of Baška and a key element of its landscape, it is 1800 meters long and faces the crystal clear sea. Since 1999, it has been the proud winner of the European Blue Flag award, which testifies to its high quality standards. Visitors can expect numerous activities and entertainment: restaurants and cafes are located everywhere, and pedal boats, windsurfing boards, umbrellas and deck chairs are available for rent. In addition to Vela plaža, Baška has more than thirty beaches; the most famous of them are those near the coves of Vela Luka and Mala Luka, the FKK beach near the Bunculuka campsite, and the beaches of Konjska, Vrženica, Jablanovo, Storišće and Dubna.
The 90 kilometers of marked hiking trails located in Baška offer the opportunity to explore the area in a radically innovative way. After walking the "Path to the Moon and Back" all the way to the "Moon Plateau", one can visit the Church of St. Lucia, where one of the most valuable monuments of Croatian history was found - the Baška Tablet; those who want to dedicate a whole day to hiking, on the other hand, can choose to follow the trail all the way to the Kuntrep bird sanctuary.
In the early morning hours during the summer months, a walk to Vela or Mala Luka is highly recommended: visitors can enjoy these beautiful bays until late afternoon, then return to the city in the pleasant shade provided by the falling evening.
Visitors can choose from a wide selection of trails; no matter which one they choose, they are guaranteed to experience a special moment and a beautiful view that will make their hiking efforts worthwhile.
The network of cycling trails starts just after the Krk Bridge and can be followed all the way to Baška, where visitors can enjoy road and mountain bike trails that will show them some of the most beautiful views they will ever experience in their lives. Cycling is a great way to relieve the stress of everyday life, and Baška offers the opportunity to cycle through some of the most beautiful landscapes ever.
In addition to the 11 km long trail from Zarok to Draga Bašćanska, which is suitable for beginners and families with children, there is a popular mountain biking route that leads to the "Moon Plateau". The reason for its popularity becomes clear after a short ride: despite the difficulty of the route, postcards are offered around every corner, as well as new viewpoints from which to observe the many sights of Baška. The Church of St. John is an indispensable stop and a place that many will undoubtedly visit again: indeed, the view from there is magical, both in the morning and in the late afternoon.
To explore the diverse underwater world of our sea, we recommend a visit to the Baška Aquarium. In the center of Baška, on an area of 200 m2, you will find twenty-one aquariums and 35 m3 of sea, with a rich selection of Adriatic fish (catfish, moray eels, lobster, grouper, octopus...) and one of the largest collections of Adriatic shells and sea snails in Croatia!A visit to the Baška Aquarium is a fun activity for adults and children. Over 100 species of fish and 400 species of shellfish and sea snails guarantee a great time spent learning, enjoying and discovering the fascinating life of the Croatian underwater world.
A walk to the Moon Plateau will make any visit to Baška truly unforgettable, as it offers access to one of the most popular locations in Baška, as well as a unique experience of the local nature against the backdrop of a place of historical significance. The first part of the trail takes visitors to the Church of St. John the Baptist, in front of which there is a panoramic viewpoint; some of the most recognizable images of Baška were taken there, such as the beautiful view of the Baška Valley, the island of Prvić, the local blue sea and Baška's iconographic Vela Plaža.
Glagolitic inscriptions are one of the trademarks of Baška and a significant part of its history; therefore, they are key to its cultural promotion. In order to introduce all visitors to Glagolitic inscriptions in a more interesting way, the Sinjali Society for the Promotion of Baška Culture, Ecology and Tradition launched the Baška Glagolitic Trail project, which was completed in 2009. The Baška Glagolitic Trail develops through the local cobblestone streets and the rich natural beauty of the area. This is the best way to discover the history that shaped the city and all the Glagolitic letters that make up the local trademark and the invaluable cultural imprint of Baška's history.
