About the host
Hosted by John Carmichael

I'm a retired teacher and my wife Rowena is still working part-time as an organisational consultant so I manage the rentals. I was brought up in Singapore and Rowena in South Africa and we met when we were both working in Italy. We love travelling and have a cosmopolitan outlook. Our hobbies include cooking, bread-making, gardening, sea swimming, tennis, hiking, reading, Pilates and beekeeping. We speak French and Italian.
Why they chose this property
I lived in Eastbourne in my teens and twenties and we moved out of London to escape Covid lockdown and be by the sea and the open spaces of the South Downs.
What makes this property unique
We love our Edwardian entrance porch with stained glass, the period features and high ceilings in all the rooms and the large garden. We installed sliding glass doors at the back of the house and the annex to enjoy the garden view all the time.
