Hereford is only 5 miles away and the market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury and Hay-on-Wye are nearby. Within the city of Hereford are plenty of things to see and do including the Mappa Mundi Centre and Chained Library, shopping, theatre and the cathedral. Ideally located to visit the pretty market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, famous for its poetry festival, and Hay-on-Wye, renowned for its literary festival and known as the town of books.
The area offers great walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing and golfing. The Forest of Dean has wildlife in abundance and many picnic sites, with Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood and Go Ape making for great day trips. Symonds Yat and Yat Rock, where peregrine falcons nest, are popular with climbers and offer stunning views down the Wye Valley. There are many places of historical interest to visit, such as castles, cathedrals and National Trust houses.
