First Floor:

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and logs for wood burner included. Hot tub. Welcome pack. . Courtyard garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Travel cot and highchair. 2 dogs welcome. Bike store. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: There are 5 steps in the courtyard. There is a natural water supply from a spring.. Tiggywinkle Cottage, which is part of the Hawnby Estate, sits in the heart of the picturesque village of Hawnby. Surrounded by the North York Moors National Park, this 200-year-old, detached, traditional Yorkshire cottage, which was fully refurbished and extended in 2020, is simply delightful. Tiggywinkle Cottage was named by a walker during the 1950s who took time to sit and draw the property. The villagers fell in love with the name and so it remains, along with the original pencil sketch which now hangs within the cottage.
On arrival visitors are welcomed into the open plan living area. This room oozes character with its low ceilings and stone floors, tall visitors will need to take care! There is a country kitchen and large comfortable sofas around the wood burner in the open plan living area. Ideal to snuggle up and enjoy an evening’s entertainment on the 32’’ Smart TV or simply sit and enjoy a good book and glass of wine after a long day walking or cycling in the National Park. You will find everything you need to cook your favourite holiday recipes whilst the dining area provides comfortable seating for four. A ground floor bedroom offers a zip and link option and an en-suite bathroom, both bedrooms have pocket spring mattresses and feather down duvets. The vaulted ceiling with Velux window gives this room a lovely feel and a door leads to the patio where you could enjoy an evening tipple or an early morning coffee, watching the sun come up over the National Park.
To the first floor is a second bedroom with lovely views and a zip and link super king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished to a very good standard. With deep mattresses and luxurious bed linen you are assured a great night’s sleep, ensuring you will wake refreshed and ready for another day. To the front is a pretty paved area with seating.
Tiggywinkle Cottage is only 8 miles from Helmsley, one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet, offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, and also the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. There are also many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park. The scenic east coast is easily accessible, as is the historic city of York, 24 miles to the south. Shop 1 mile. Village pub 500 yards, other local pubs and restaurants 7 miles.
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.
Small dog/s only allowed.
One or more beds can be linked to form double or twin beds (please advise the owner of your preference soon after booking).
