Approached by a sweeping drive, Hillside Cottage is a beautiful, detached, former coach house that has been sympathetically converted into a delightful two bedroomed cottage. Characterful features have been retained such as beamed ceilings on the lower level, and in the living room you’ll find a wood burner, perfect for cosy winter evenings. To the rear of the property is a private garden where you can enjoy a morning coffee and evening glass of wine, and then the surrounding grounds, which you’re free to explore, are simply spectacular. A sunken floodlit tennis court is available for use by prior arrangement, and the landscaped grounds extend into parkland which borders the Shropshire Union Canal.
Footpaths from the door mean you can easily explore the surrounding Cheshire countryside by foot or by bike, including to nearby Audlem which is home to a vibrant village centre. Audlem has a good range of shops, together with three pubs, a café and a fish & chip shop. The village also hosts a huge range of events, including Party on the Park, a beer festival, firework display and ’singing round the Christmas tree’, making it a great year round destination. Running alongside the village is the afore mentioned Shropshire Union Canal for wonderful towpath walks, and then a mile outside the village you’ll find the picturesque Overwater Marina.
Around a 15-minute drive will take you to the medieval market town of Nantwich, which quite uniquely is home to an open-air swimming pool, and being set on the Cheshire/Shropshire border means that both Chester and Shrewsbury are easily accessible in under an hour. Finally, if you’re wanting to swap the countryside for coast, then North Wales and the Wirral Peninsula can be reached in around an hour and a half.
