Set lightly among the trees, the Stilt House is Fernwood’s most distinctive stay, an architectural retreat designed to immerse you in nature. Elevated on slender stilts above the woodland floor, its sweeping elliptical form creates a sense of calm from the moment you arrive.

Inside, forest-green pine interiors and floor-to-ceiling glazing blur the line between indoors and out. Light shifts throughout the day, revealing new views at every turn, while the curved layout invites you to slow down and take it all in.

Spend your time wandering woodland paths, or unwind beneath the canopy in your private wood-fired Swedish hot tub, tucked quietly into the landscape.

Despite its secluded setting, comfort is at the core. The king-size bed features the same premium mattress used in the The Merrion Hotel, with carefully selected furniture from local makers and Scandinavian design houses. A Bang & Olufsen speaker lets you set the tone, indoors or out.

The kitchenette includes an induction hob, combi microwave and fridge, with tea, coffee and breakfast essentials provided.

The spacious bathroom features a rain shower and a large window overlooking the woodland.

Our organic farm is on a 140 acre private estate comprising of native woodland and bog, on the shores of the Salt Lake.

Walk out your front door to explore, in complete solitude, our 2km of woodland paths, the wonders of the Connemara bogland or relax in our newly constructed lakeside sauna house with plunge pool.

You can chose to stay in our new refurbished Bothy conversion which is finished to the highest spec with underfloor heating, wood burning stove, sheepskin rugs and feather down duvets

For the ultimate experience chose our luxury treehouse dome/tent or better again a Stilt House Suite with private wood-fired Swedish Hot Tub.

A fantastic stay, so comfortable and relaxing!

The location and scenery are amazing, they really set the place apart, but I was extremely impressed with the comfort and overall quality of the accommodation which made the whole stay even better. I really appreciated how everything on site was so thought through, and how all the little details added up to make my stay so enjoyable. I would love to come back as soon as possible!

Stilt House is beautifully designed, positioned and constructed. It's positioned in a wooded area of higher ground with wonderful light from 3 directions. The bed is super comfortable and hard to leave. We enjoyed long walks in the woodland, followed by great food in Clifden and a mooch in the shops. Rest, relaxation and nature.

Fernwood was so beyond all my expectations. Only an hour from home in Galway, it felt like we had escaped a million miles away to pure peace and bliss. We felt truly rested after a few nights stay nestled amongst the hawthorn trees in Stlit house

Stilt house feels like a private retreat immersed in nature, it was hard to leave the relaxing accommodation and wild surroundings of Fernwood even when the sun shone! The lakeside sauna and plunge sits sensitively amongst the landscape and was a lovely activity the punctuate the evening. It was an additional treat to be hosted by Anne and her family in the bothy for Gather super club. Anne’s attention to detail and conscious design ethos makes Fernwood farm feel like a very special place.

We enjoyed our stay at the stilt house, it exceeded all expectations. Everything we could need was thoughtfully provided, and then some.
