Our private ranch estate is located an hour outside of historical San Antonio and the world famous Riverwalk. Surrounded by pastures of horses grazing, a few family pigs and an array of birds, a personal favorite, Kevin the peacock. The house has been in the likes of Town and Country and accommodates 12 guests. Indoor and outdoor fun awaits you. The swimming pool is equipped with a BBQ area and screened in patio for entertaining the entire family. Rental of this pristine property includes access to take a walk around the 30 acres immediately surrounding the home to see all the animal life on the ranch. Upon request, a tour of the property can be arranged by the owner and hostess. This oasis is an ideal retreat for a large family looking for an escape from the city to vacation in South Texas on a rural ranch. Set on 200 acres of pristine pasture land and surrounded by 1000's of acres of farmland, Lonesome Wind Ranch sets itself apart from other ranches with its manicured landscape and resort like ambiance. The forethought and time spent to design this little "slice of heaven" is evident and will surely whisk you away to a weekend of relaxation enjoyed with friends and family in your preferred style of getaway or celebration. Paradise in South Texas

Hands down the best VRBO we have stayed at! The owners and the Ranch Foreman were all amazing and so helpful! The property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful! Everyone we encountered was so nice! I can’t say enough good things about this property or the people that own in!

This place was an awesome touch to a customer dove hunting trip. Place was amazing and better than pictured. The pool was awesome and cool even in 100 degree weather. Host were on property to help with any questions and were very kind.

Lonesome Wind Ranch

We booked the ranch for a family celebration of my daughter completing her residency. We had 10 adults and 2 children. The ranch house was perfect for our group! Everything was as advertised and the place was immaculate. We were greeted by the caretaker and he walked us through everything we needed to know. A great place for a retreat!

Lonesome Wind Ranch

My family stayed here for about 4 days while attending a family members funeral. There are no words to describe this property or the host. It was just absolutely wonderful. The first thing that struck us as we drove onto the property is how peaceful and quiet it was. It was very welcoming and had a warm vibe. Everything was clean and well attended to, the house had various personal items that lended to this feel of "home". We were visited daily by Peacocks who would preen in front of the dining room window, plus an occasional Cat or Dog. Horses and their babies milled around their respective fields feeding which were fun to feed and watch. The pool was very refreshing on a hot day. We very must regretted having to leave this amazing property. We had little interaction with the owners, but when we did they were extremely gracious. Plan on doubling the time for your stay, you will not regret it. We stayed in the main ranch house. The Thurman family.

Wonderful Getaway!

From the moment we stepped foot on this property we knew it was going to be an amazing Thanksgiving gathering. Wonderful hosts who took the extra time to show us around this beautiful home, stunning property with some of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen in my life and friendly dogs, a cat & peacocks. The history of the owner's journey to this ranch (which is displayed all through the house) is what Texas Ranch Life is all about. You will not be disappointed by booking any of the homes on this property, but the main house was perfect for my family of 9. Thank you Amy & Mike!

A absolute hidden Gem

From first arrival this property is breathtaking. The grounds are perfectly manicured and the home is absolutely gorgeous. Our family has used VRBO for every vacation the last few years and I can say this is a hidden gem among them all. From the house to the history to the ranch manager it doesn’t get better than this. Our stay was fabulous. So thankful this family shares this home. It’s truly an amazing property and we’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful, Peaceful, Unique Ranch Estate

We had a great time staying here. Amy and her family were great, friendly and very helpful. The estate and home is beautifully landscaped and very unique. The Peacocks were super cool and so interesting we are still talking about them, almost a week after our visit. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy life in a natural, rustic setting while having all of life’s modern amenities, this is a great choice!

Country living with close up farm animal experiences

This home and the family that runs it are true gems. They were so welcoming, attentive and gracious. The home features eclectic country design and amenities, including a spacious screen porch area, pool with a slide, and an outdoor kitchen. The bedrooms are each unique, clean and full of personality. The farm animals add greatly to the experience at this property. We loved watching the peacocks outside the kitchen viewing window. The horses are gorgeous. There are chickens and sheep, including adorable baby lambs. Our group had 8 people of various ages and we all enjoyed it so much.

Peaceful retreat - perfect for our family!

We loved our time at Lonesome Wind Ranch! Our group consisted of 6 adults and 4 kids, and we had plenty of space to spread out. The property was spectacular and our kids enjoyed the pool and exploring the grounds. Amy was a wonderful hostess and was happy to help answer questions and make our stay wonderful!

Even Better Than We Had Imagined !

"A little piece of Heaven" is exactly what we found when we arrived. Our family of 9 spent the weekend soaking in the serenity of what ranch life is like, without having to do the ranch chores! We were completely comfortable with plenty of room for everyone and the accommodations were outstanding. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of and our only wish is that we could have stayed longer! What great memories we all have of Lonesome Wind Ranch.
