The Manor House is a beautiful historic family home on the edge of the friendly village of Bramley between Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury. Great for large families or groups. Off road parking for 4 cars and a stunning garden including covered outdoor eating area with BBQ and pizza oven. There are many lovely rural walks nearby, a traditional country pub within 2 miles and the award winning Wellington Arms nearby. Easy access to Basingstoke station (10 mins), M3 (10 mins) and M4 (20 mins).
The House The Manor House dates to the 16th Century and boasts many features such as oak beams and panelling. However, unlike many such houses, the ceilings are not low, although you may need to duck under some of the doorways! There is a lovely sitting room with an open log fire to relax in and a less formal playroom with large TV. The kitchen has an AGA as well as a separate electric oven, hob, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher and walk in larder. The separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave. There is a downstairs toilet. The dining room is a beautiful room, whether for sunny Sunday lunches or cosy evening dinners. The oak panelled study is the perfect place to work. It has a desk all set up for modern day working as well as an area to sit and relax. The broadband is fast and strong throughout the house. The main staircase leads off the sitting room and is original to the house. At the top of that staircase you will find the master bedroom and bathroom as well as a double (bedroom 3) and two singles (bedrooms 4 & 5). Bedroom 4 is large and a camp bed can be put up in there to make it a twin on request. Bedrooms 3,4 & 5 share a bathroom and separate toilet although bedroom 3 also has its own basin. A separate staircase leads up to bedroom 2 which has its own bathroom and separate toilet. This bedroom is the perfect room for guests that want to have a little quiet away from the rest of the group as it can only be reached by this staircase. Bedroom 2 has a king size bed but can also be a twin.
The area and things to do The Manor House sits in the old part of the village of Bramley. Bramley has its own train station (15 minute walk), farm shop & cafe, bakery and shop. There are many rural walks nearby. The Grade I listed St James' Church is just a few steps away and guests can walk through the churchyard and out onto the footpaths that cross the surrounding fields. The Vyne (National Trust house) is only a mile down the road. Guests can enjoy visiting the house or just take walks through the adjacent Morgaston Wood. The ancient Roman town of Silchester (known as Calleva Atrbatum by the Romans) is only 3 miles away. Much of the old Roman wall which surrounded the town still stands and it is a stunning place to visit. A traditional pub, The Plough, is only a mile away and is a great place to have a pint before lunch on a Sunday. There are many other great pubs and restaurants nearby, including the award winning The Wellington Arms in Baughurst. Basingstoke is only 10 minutes away and is a great place to shop or enjoy concerts and shows at The Anvil.
Please note We have superfast broadband.
Access to the entire property and garden. My mother lives in the next door annex (separate driveway and front door). Her cottage has its own terrace which forms a small corner of the main garden.
We have a travel cot which can be erected in any bedroom, if requested. It comes with a cot sheet, cot duvet and cover.
This is our home. We want all our guests to feel at home when they stay here. For this reason, although we clear away most of our personal items, we do not lock away dried food in the larder and items stored in the utility room. We are happy for you to use these. We only ask that, if you make serious inroads into anything, you replace it or leave a contribution. Neither do we lock the drinks cupboard. Please do not use any wine or spirits.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay Silvia. We would be happy to have you back anytime.
This was a beautiful period property ideal for our family group. The Host was very helpful and there was lots of thoughtful information at the property that made our stay easier, for instance information on how appliances worked and places of interest and facilities in the locality. Overall it was the perfect place for us to stay. Lovely.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at The Manor House, Angela. Please feel free to come again.
We very much enjoyed our stay, experiencing a taste of Tudor life(!). The garden was amazing and the house was full of character. It was only let down by a lack of showers - there was only one, together with two baths, but I guess that was sufficient in Tudor times!? A little more privacy between the occupied Annex and the garden would also have been welcome.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay Stephen and the weather was good for your son's wedding. I'm sorry you were disappointed that we have baths and just one shower. That is explained in the property description, so it is a shame that you missed it. I'll try to highlight it for future guests. Likewise, I have explained in the description of the property that my mother lives next door, and I highlighted this before you booked, and you said that you were happy. Thank you for leaving the house clean and tidy. Tamsin
We cannot speak highly enough of this property. We hosted a murder mystery weekend for my father’s 70th birthday and it was the perfect setting. Every part of the house was full of character, and the courtyard garden was so peaceful. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. One of the most charming touches was the blackboard on the wall, listing the vegetables growing in the garden. Although we had already brought everything and didn’t get the chance to try them, the gesture was lovely. The beds and bedding were incredibly comfortable, including the camp bed. It was also a nice touch to find a white tablecloth on the formal dining table when we had our birthday dinner. This place is a real gem and we really hope to come back again.

Thank you for the lovely review Helen. I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay and you all had a great weekend away. Tamsin
We stayed at the Manor House for two nights prior to my daughters wedding as a family of 9.
The house, grounds and location were perfect for a special family event, the Manor House is a beautiful period house full of charm and character, spotlessly clean, comfortable with plenty of space for a large family.
Tamsin communicated promptly and positively to a number of my questions / requests and provided information of local services.
Sorry we didn't finish the lovely cake you baked for us; it was delicious!

Thank you Mike. I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay. Please come again anytime. Tamsin
We enjoyed our stay at the Manor. We were two families traveling together, 9 of us total (5 were children). The home was so cozy we hardly wanted to leave it for our day trips. There was plenty of space for gathering, sleeping, and even a play room for the kids including lots of games. All four boys were thrilled to discover the bin of Legos.
The backyard garden was beautiful. We were busy enough we didn't spend lots of time there, but enjoyed the walks through it. The beauty of the garden did make us nervous to let our boys play soccer in the backyard, as we didn't want any flowers damaged.
We walked to the farm store 3 minutes away most mornings for a latte and pastry. We also enjoyed picking up a bottle of wine there for our evenings.
Tamsin was incredibly helpful and responsive. She even let us know about the 80th D-day Commemoration/Celebration occuring in Bramley, which we are grateful to have attended.
The only challenge for us was that most of the bathrooms had bathtubs, but only one had a shower. As the majority of us prefer showers, we shared that master ensuite a bit more than we expected.
Overall we highly recommend this home!
