About this property
Newly converted set of farm buildings. Perfect for that eco-friendly group stay.
A Tranquil, stylish and cosy spot perfect to escape and rejuvenate from the stresses of everyday life. Clayhill is a newly and lovingly renovated series of farm buildings situated 4 miles outside of the historic market town of Bridgwater, in the middle of a 140-acre arable farm in Somerset. Offering unique accommodation in a retreat like setting, we overlook the stunning Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The Space:
We have 8 en-suite bedrooms to choose from and can sleep up to 16 people. Arranged as a mixture of twins and doubles, each room has a private entrance, its own tea and coffee making facilities and outdoor seating area. Our 4 double rooms have been converted from a series of old cattle sheds and retain characterful features such as exposed wooden roof timbers and stone walls. Our 4 twin rooms have been converted from an old milking parlour. They are slightly more modern in style, having been finished with illustrative wallpapers. We host a fully accessible bedroom with en-suite wet room. Additionally, all communal areas are wheelchair accessible. A mobility lift has been installed, as well as mobility apparatus in the toilets. For your comfort we use freshly pressed 100% cotton linens on all our beds, provide bathroom towels and locally sourced bath products.
Access:
You will have exclusive access to the entire space which includes the impressive converted Granary where you can use a fully functioning kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. There is a cosy snug to retreat into at the end of a busy day exploring, complete with TV, DVD player, armchairs, board-games and a log burning fire. Additional access to the gardens, lake and courtyard with a BBQ, pizza oven and seating are also available to you during your stay.
This is an ideal setting to host your family get together or a relaxing large group getaway!
Environmentally friendly accommodation:
With an interest in biodiversity and situated in the heart of rural Somerset, we encourage wildlife and look to make Clayhill environmentally sustainable. As such the Granary has a solar array on the roof that provides the whole site’s electricity and water is provided from a natural spring which we process, filter and soften. The heating is generated by a biomass boiler that burns wood pellets to generate heat, making the site carbon neutral and self-sufficient.
Additional info:
- Minimum of 2 night stay.

About the host
Hosted by Deborah Parkes

Hello I'm Deborah! I have worked across the arts and hospitality sectors all of my life and am passionate about creating spaces and opportunities where people come together and connect. Along with my husband Michael, we hope you enjoy your stay here in the heart of rural Somerset to take some time out, connect with friends and family and make happy memories together.
Why they chose this property
We have lovingly restored these barns to offer our group accommodation facilities. There is plenty of space to get together in our state of the art kitchen, lots of outside relaxation areas, and room inside for lounging, yoga, boardgames or dancing!
What makes this property unique
When we converted the buildings we had a great interest in green technologies as well as biodiversity. We encourage wildlife in the way we plant and garden the space and look to make Clayhill environmentally sustainable. The Granary has a solar array on the roof that provides the whole site’s electricity and water is provided from a natural spring which we process, filter and soften. The heating is generated by a biomass boiler that burns wood pellets to generate heat, making the site carbon neutral and self-sufficient.
