Dirty, unsafe and expensive
Numerous show-stopping issues were present during our stay. The cottage was advertised as suitable for 6 people, but it was only safe and suitable for 4. Safety concerns included a burnt-out 4-gang extension been used in the bedroom, the absence of a fire extinguisher/blanket in the kitchen, and blinds without child safety attachments. The stair rail was falling off at the bottom, the French door to the garden did not securely lock, and the toilet seat and toilet itself were not properly attached or secured to the floor.
Additional problems included the car charger not being commissioned, a persistent drain smell in downstairs rooms, and the paint on the outside bench peeling, making it unhygienic with paint sticking to clothes and skin. The overall cleanliness of the property was poor, with dirty and unmopped downstairs floors, a smelly mop and vacuum, sand-filled and unshaken rugs, dust on window frames and the bathroom blind, as well as cobwebs and spiders in the bathroom corners and on top of blinds. The kettle and coffee machine also showed signs of scale on the outside.
