About us
Ellerton Hall is owned by John and Lucy Gough who live literally three fields away at Ellerton Grange. In 2020 when the opportunity arose to purchase the Hall, John didn’t hesitate as he had admired this striking house for all his working life.
It was immediately apparent that the Hall had considerable business potential due to its beautiful architecture, its secluded location and the scale of the property.
The Covid-19 lockdown gave the family plenty of opportunity to sit around the dinner table mapping out their plans for a luxury holiday rental business, let on a self-catering basis which would be mainly targeting large family celebrations.
A comprehensive renovation would be needed to bring the house up to the high standards that the Gough’s required. Work started in January 2021 when the whole house was surrounded in scaffolding and continued for 24 months under the direction of project manager Mike Speed and John. Skilled local craftsmen have been used to sympathetically restore the house to its former glory. In particular, the craftmanship involved in the leadwork, the masonry and the carpentry has been outstanding.
Interior designer, Katie Briggs of ‘Keeping it Home’ completed the team, working with Lucy to decorate and furnish the house in an eclectic style that has respectfully blended the period character of the house with a fresh modern style.
The main house including the six luxurious double bedrooms was the first phase of the project. This is now completed.
