About this property

Stylish, family friendly Pembrokeshire Bluestone Barn in idyllic coastal setting

The Cowshed is a beautiful Pembrokeshire blue stone barn in an idyllic setting within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a just a 20 minute walk from the amazing Coastal Path! With scenic coastal walks right on your doorstep the rugged, elemental beauty of the coastline with its incredible views, coves, beaches and wildlife is yours to explore! Steeped in history and away from it all yet easily accessible by car, train and even the ferry from Ireland! Your piece of Welsh paradise awaits!
The Cowshed itself is one of three tastefully converted farm buildings around a central courtyard, each affording privacy from the other and each with its own private garden and dedicated parking.
The space:
Tradition meets modern. 'The Cowshed', converted from a former longhouse in 2019, is finished to a very high standard, is tastefully furnished and its open plan spaciousness is enhanced by the exposed A frames and skylights that fill the space with natural light. Truly family friendly accommodation and enjoying modern comforts such as two bathrooms, underfloor heating and fully equipped kitchen, the Cowshed is part of a small complex of tastefully converted former traditional agricultural buildings that front onto a large central courtyard, yet enjoy complete privacy from one another. The Cowshed has its own enclosed garden and dedicated parking for two cars. Guests are invited to explore the adjoining 6+ acres of land and enjoy the views across to the Preseli hills!

We like to make you feel welcome and as a small gesture, provide a modest 'welcome hamper' for you. Just the basics (bread, milk, eggs etc) with maybe a local treat or two! If you let us know if you are vegan, or if you are dairy or gluten intolerant we will provide suitable alternatives. We also maintain a larder, stocked with canned foods, pasta, rice and other handy ingredients as well as the usual condiments, seasonings and sauces.

Lovely secluded property in the countryside
A thoroughly pleasant time at Trefechan Wen. Property was very clean and well-appointed with a larder full of food! Marty is a great host and made us truly welcome, with lots of recommendations for the area. The location is nicely secluded yet only a few minutes' drive from Goodwick with some fantastic coastal walks. We would be back next week given the chance!

A fabulousee converted Cow shed
A fantastic and well designed cottage with all amenities and very clean. Home from home. Unfortunately too far to walk to pub for evening meal. A good situation for touring Pembrokeshire.

Host profile image
Since arriving at Trefechan Wen in September 2020 and being fortunate in being able to make this amazing place our home, Marty and Bev believe this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire is one of Wales best kept secrets and one which we just love to share with guests!
We have over four years of hosting experience (2 of which in Bermuda, where we lived before returning home to Wales) and aim to provide our guests with the best experience possible. We have listened carefully to what guests value the most, are sensitive to individual needs and respect privacy as well as the need for us to be there for you when ever needed. We live on site and are available to assist with anything before, during and even after your stay. We share our home with five adopted cats, some of whom may make themselves known to you during your stay but will not intrude. We are still exploring and discovering new things about the area and are happy to recommend walks and lesser-known places of scenic, historic and archeological interest nearby.

Why they chose this property

Trefechan Wen, though having a feeling of remoteness is really very accessible, easy to get to, being just a mile from Goodwick and not off the beaten track as some rural properties can be. With spectacular walking, ancient historical sites and stunning scenery to be explored right from our doorstep and being just a mile from the world-renowned Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, there is just so much to offer for nature lovers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Sandy beaches and surfing beaches are just a short drive away, as are the dramatic Preseli Hills! For stargazers, the Pencaer peninsular is also a recognized dark sky area with no significant light pollution resulting in a clear view or the panoply of stars at night!

What makes this property unique

A cosy haven and true home away from home with all the comforts and amenities you are likely to need after your day out exploring, walking, swimming, surfing or visiting ancient monuments, country houses or gardens. Folly Farm and Oakwood theme park are an easy drive away and make a great day out for both the young and young at heart!
Come and experience the magic!
