Three bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with open plan kitchen, dining and living space. it has a charming outside garden with shaded palm. with additional balconies and private outside spaces, overlooking both of the pools and The White Mountain (Lefka Ori) views Private parking along side the villa. The villa is set on a small safe complex, of 14 other villas, mixture of private homes and holiday rental, with 2 generous pools with kids shallow areas in both. The villa is within a gentle 5 minute stroll to the family friendly , blue flag beaches of Almyrida.
I lived in Almyrida for 7 years, from 2005, with 2 children, one was born whilst we lived there. The villa was my home and then later a place to use throughout the year.
Almyrida is a well-known, extremely family, couple, and multi generational holiday resort. Once a tiny fishing village, it still holds some of that charm whilst providing everything a traveller would require without having to actually leave the village, so actually, no car is required. The village has a two bakeries, supermarkets, wine shop, hairdresser, speciality fruit and vegetable shop, clothes and jewellery shops, car and motorbike rentals, small bowling alley within the Almyrida Beach Hotel and a wonderful ice cream parlour selling fresh gelato, made on the premises daily. A wide variety of eateries from coffees and pastries to asian to gastro greek with rooftop terrace. Cocktail bar with music and many of the tavernas have live bands and bars playing sport The beaches are completely safe and shallow waters ideal for smaller children. Also, a stunning stone beach at one end. There is a watersports centre where you can rent kayaks, windsurfs, and pedalos as well as offer lessons There are excursions available to book right on the beach front to all over the island and further. Almyrida is a 40-minute drive from the airport of Chania. The beautiful city of Chania is a must with its 2x weekly street markets and fascinating history. Interesting restaurants that cover all tastes and budgets. Rethymno is also a good place to visit, a smaller version of Chania, with a similar feel around the harbour and tiny streets in the old town at around 50 minutes drive east. The Botanical Gardens of Crete, on the road to Omalos from Chania, sightly elevated so cooler to escape the heat. Lake Kournas is another non beach trip, swimming, pedalo rental and with its native wildlife ( turtles, birds) is an interesting trip around 30-minute drive from Almyrida There are great tavernas overlooking the beauty of the lake... You can get the novelty fun-train from Georgiopoulis for a change, too. Liminoupolis Waterpark is an excellent day out with kids of ALL ages.
