Typical Ostuni house in the 19th-century area of the city, a short walk from the historic center.The apartment, characterized by vaulted ceilings with typical Lecce stone, spreads over several levels. The entrance opens onto a stone staircase leading to the living area furnished with a dining table, a double sofa bed and a TV. In a separate room we find the kitchen simple yet equipped with the necessary amenities including a kettle, an electric oven and an espresso coffee machine. Completing the floor is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a bathroom with shower. Climbing a few steps leads to the upper floor characterized by a low ceiling (maximum height 1.8 m) where there is an additional bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with shower, carved out of a stone alcove. The highlight of the house is definitely the double terrace, furnished with a dining table perfect for enjoying dinner under the stars or an aperitif at sunset.Air conditioning in the living room and the master bedroom, and heat pump heating will be available in the accommodation.*Upon arrival or a few days before arrival it may be required to pay a tourist tax, which varies according to local regulations. Its blindingly white, immense historic center culminates in the Cathedral (600 meters from the apartment) that soars over the plain of olive trees, the coastal dune park and a crystal-clear sea. Characteristic are its narrow streets, the Piazza della Libertà (5 minutes away) and the column of St. Oronzo that majestically protects the town.Its countryside stretches into the heart of the Itria Valley. A few kilometers away is Ceglie Messapica, a center of tradition and enogastronomy; Cisternino, a village recognized as one of the most beautiful in Italy; and Alberobello, whose famous trulli have been a world heritage site since 1996. About 30 km to the north we find the Archaeological Park of Egnatia, Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, ancient fishing villages with a charming historic center and beautiful beaches. To the north (80 km) we find Bari, the gateway to the East, while proceeding south we first encounter the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, then Brindisi to reach Lecce, the capital of Baroque. Moving westward there is Taranto, heart of Magna Graecia, and finally to Matera, characteristic for its sassi and European Capital of Culture 2019.The nearest airports are Brindisi and Bari, which are 35 minutes and 1 hour and 10 minutes away by car, respectively.
