About this property
A tastefully renovated farmhouse in the tranquil la Creuse department of France.
Gite de l'Œil offers accommodation of a very high standard with modern facilities. There is a well equipped fitted kitchen and a large, open plan sitting/dining room. Guests can enjoy access to extensive gardens, with patio and secluded areas where you can relax with a good book. Another attraction is the lack of light pollution which means that you can watch the spectacular night sky while enjoying a BBQ.
There are many walking and cycling routes which can be accessed from your doorstep. For those who would like to venture further there are numerous places to visit including La Souterraine, our local town with a choice of restaurants, tourist attractions and market days, the medieval city of Limoges and the beautiful Valley of the Painters, a favourite among Impressionist artists. The gite is located on the route of ‘le chemin de Saint Jacques de Compostelle’, a network of pilgrims' ways leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Gite de l'Œil is perfect for the best of holidays in France. Whether you are looking for a holiday full of cycling, walking, horse riding and fishing or a more relaxed time with wine and days lazing on a local lake beach - you will find it all in la Creuse!

About the host
Hosted by Tina Craddock
Bonjour! We have lived in l'Œil since December 2020 devoting our time into completely renovating the property; creating Gite de l'Œil.
Gary has carried out the restoration almost single-handedly. Many of the fixtures and fittings in the property he made using wood recycled from the barns and garden. Much of his handiwork can be seen in the photos. You will be charmed by many of the unique features he has included.
The fact that we also live on the property means that we are readily available if you have any queries or requests during your stay; but you will not find us intrusive during your stay in l'Œil.
We would be glad to welcome you to Gite de l'Œil to enjoy this area, which we have fallen in love with.
