This room opens out onto your private balcony where you can soak up the scenery in the sunshine. This could be the best viewpoint in the village, and it is all yours. The dining room also has a sofa as well as a TV if you can drag your eyes away from the scenery surrounding you. There is a separate lounge with sofas around the open fire for cosy evenings, plus a well-equipped kitchen, ideal for longer stays. On this ground floor you also have the family bathroom. Spiral stairs lead to the first floor bedroom with three single beds under the eaves and with sea views. On the lower ground floor are two double bedrooms and a shower room. Staithes is a fascinating village with a lot of history. Take time to explore the free museum as well as the art gallery. Each year the annual art festival draws visitors from around the UK and this village continues to inspire many artists with its beautiful scenery. The area offers walking trails including the Cleveland Way leading across the cliff tops which links other pretty coastal villages such as Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay as well as Skinningrove. The popular coastal town of Whitby is nearby which delights guests with its cobbled old town, boat trips and the iconic abbey ruins. Or visit Saltburn which is a surfer’s paradise, with a beautiful Victorian pier. For a day out you can take a trip on the steam train across the North Yorkshire Moors, soaking up the views. This is a great choice for guests looking to explore the breath taking scenery of the Yorkshire Coast as well as the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. A great choice all year round.

Damp!
On arrival as we entered there was a strong smell of damp. The curtain to the main door was soaking due to the damp room.Entering the kitchen the floors were so wet I slipped and hurt my back, they had been washed but there was a lot of surface water I had to go over with a towel (our own) to dry them all they were dangerous. Needing the toilet after the journey I went to the toilet and when I sat down realised the toilet seat was not attached at all and fell off hurting myself again. Also there was a wood lice infestation in the bathroom. We headed downstairs and we chose the largest bedroom to sleep in that night. It smelt so strong of damp, we opened the windows, thinking the smell would clear before we went to bed. We went to bed that first night and realised the carpet was wet through in places. We turned the lights out and tried to sleep, however the damp smell was so strong and I was actually wheezing as I am asthmatic. We ended up trying the other double room but the smell was still not good in there and there is visible damp on the walls in that room. We ended up on the top floor in separate beds. Not a good first night! We have slept up there for the other nights stay. The temperature had dropped and the heating was not working, we also thought having the heating on might air out the damp smell. Our clothes felt damp too on touch being stored in that room. I have placed a complaint but heard nothing back! Case ID 119965417
