Town: A lovely base with excellent rail connections to Chester and Shrewsbury is the village of Gobowen, which is just to the north of Oswestry. It has two churches, a number of shops and pubs, and a golf course on the outskirts. The surrounding area is great for leisurely strolls and bike rides, especially along the Shropshire Union Canal, and the nearby River Dee at Llangollen offers a number of thrilling watersports.
