We booked this property and paid for our stay. Days before our departure, the owner cancelled our booking due to his “double booking mistake” and promised a refund. He then only refunded us 85% and three weeks after that partial refund, we still have not received the rest. We contacted VRNO and in turn, they contacted the owner with the following:
“To summarize, I have been able to contact the owner and he gave me the info that the refund he provided to you was all the that our system gave them. This is because they did not cancel the reservation in time”.
To date, neither the owner nor VRBO have taken responsibility to refund us the balance owing on a cancellation that was done by the owner. Note that we were forced to make alternate reservations at a much higher cost due to this cancellation.
