This was the perfect retreat for us and our dog, set in a beautiful and peaceful area and with many walks and nice country pubs within easy reach. The property was very nicely furnished, the garden with its spectacular views was a great place to relax and Bridget could not have been more helpful.
Excellent cabin for a truly relaxing getaway stay. everything was spotlessly clean. Thoughtful touches and excellent communication with the owner. Would highly recommend
We stayed in the wooden cabin during the recent heatwaves. Situated on the top of a hill with incredible views for 180, it was a stunning place to hang out - peaceful, calm and private, a space to reconnect and go off-grid. The cabin is beautifully furnished with all the bits and pieces we needed, large enough for 2 people, and includes a wood burner for the winter and plenty of opening windows during the sweltering summer! A massive Tescos is a convenient 10-minute drive down the hill, with Shaftesbury on your doorstep should you want to return to the hustle/bustle. We loved it so much we've already rebooked! If you need to get away from it all (and your kids) and get some chilled time with your loved one, I highly recommend staying here!
We had a wonderful time. The lodge is cosy and has everything you need. The bed is dreamily comfortable. The setting is outstanding, with amazing views on three sides and an array of garden furniture to suit any weather. Clear skies at night allow you fantastic star gazing. Bridget and Steve are generous and friendly hosts. So glad we found it.
Fabulous little lodge with everything to cater for your needs with a touch of luxury! Comfortably hosted 2 adults & 2 dogs, with absolutely stunning views! Hosts Bridget & Steve were wonderful & welcoming, welcome pack of local produce was a lovely little touch!
Excellently designed Eco Lodge suitable for two. Very comfortable, very quiet with beautiful views across Dorset. A great place to relax and to have ‘head space’. Lovely decor, great books to read, local maps and local produce.
Beautiful location with many interesting places to visit. Excellent host 🙏.
We had an amazing stay at this property. Inside, the property is very well appointed, with a great welcome pack. The views from the garden are spectacular and we spent a lot of time just relaxing out there. There are plenty of walks on your doorstep, with the excellent Foresters pub being about 1.5 miles away.
We went for a "get away from it all" break and this place absolutely delivered. Highly recommended and we would love to return.
Everything about this property had been thought about in detail. It was warm, eco friendly, contemporary decor with just the right touches of homely influences. There were books, games, warm blankets. A total escape. The area is stunning but having grown up here in biased
The cabin is tucked away overlooking the hills. It's got a lovely table and chair set outside to eat breakfast and also some great relaxing chairs so you can look over the view. We decided to set up the firepit and look at the stars and it was lovely! The cabin is clean, tidy and very welcoming with everything you could need. Bridget was a fantastic host, giving clear instructions on how to find the cabin and also responding to any questions quickly. Only downside was we never saw the cats as we really wanted to give them a cuddle!
This rural cozy retreat, impeccably presented & tastefully furnished to a high standard, has amazing views of a timeless bucolic landscape unchanged since Hardy's time.
There are lots of things to see and do (walking, Shaftesbury, Old Wardour Castle, etc.) but just staying put is a treat. The cottage is very peaceful and comfortable, and the kitchen is fully equipped. There is also a small library of some fiction and local history books and lots of maps.
On clear nights you have a fantastic views of stars, as this is located in a Dark Sky conservation area. Bring your binos! The outdoor living area is just as beautiful with pots of colourful flowers and plants. There is a garden table and chairs, BBQ, and on the veranda a sofa.
Stanley, one of the two cats, might honour you with a visit. He is very curious and friendly. Lois is the shy one.
In bad weather, curling up on the sofa with a book, mug of tea and slice of cake is just perfect. We received a wonderfully warm welcome from the delightful hosts. Thank you! :-) We will definitely be back.
Ticklehay lodge is THE place if it’s peace and tranquility you are after. The lodge is beautifully appointed, extremely comfortable, very clean inside and out and the views are totally breathtaking. Lots of useful local information, and an extremely tasty ‘welcome pack’, were waiting for us on arrival and ensured a total mind and body reset was achieved within hours of arrival. Hosts Bridget and Steve are always on hand to answer any queries but we honestly had none as everything was perfect!
A beautiful lodge with stunning views. You have everything you need and more. The fresh produce and wine an absolute plus after a 7 hour drive.I would recommend staying here
Amazing place!! My partner and I came down from London looking to get some country relaxation. This place was perfect to relax, do some cooking, enjoy amazing views, the wood burning stove, amazing walks, and amazing little towns all around for food, antiquing and exploring. Highly recommend!!
