About this property

The Old Rope House, Southwold

This three storey Victorian town house is in an ideal position for a seaside holiday in the heart of picturesque Southwold with the beach and bustling town centre just two minutes walk away. Interiors are ideal for socialising with accommodation comprising four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Parking for two cars and a garden are added bonuses.

GROUND FLOOR
Guests generally enter the house from the back door as it’s convenient for off-loading the car but there’s also a front door with a path to Cumberland Avenue. The shower room sits off the kitchen at the back and a door to the heart of the house through the dining room, with the living room at the front and stairs to the first floor.

KITCHEN
Well designed for eight guests with a waist height oven, separate grill, four ring gas hob, microwave, Bosch fridge/freezer (4 shelves, 3 veg etc. drawers in the fridge; 3 drawers in the freezer), dishwasher, a toaster and a kettle. There’s also a washing machine and a dryer hidden behind a curtain.

DINING ROOM
Conveniently next to the kitchen, this room’s ideal for socialising with friends and family at the long dining table and there’s an elegant velvet sofa for an afternoon nap if needs be!

LIVING ROOM
Two generous sofas, an armchair and a large foot stool give plenty of room for all eight guests to relax and enjoy a programme on the TV with the added bonus of a fire in the winter months.

SHOWER ROOM
Ideally located for sandy feet and beach gear as it’s off the kitchen, close to the back door with the washing machine and dryer nearby too! The room’s fitted with a shower cubicle with a handheld shower, a WC and wash basin.

FIRST FLOOR
Steep carpeted stairs rise to the first-floor landing and there are wooden floors with rugs in both bedrooms and tiles in the bathroom.

BEDROOM 1
Light streams into this room through the sash bay window where a barrel back chair sits, waiting for you to relax with a good book! The king size bed stands between bedside drawers; there’s a comfy sofa and ample space to unpack and settle in with a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

BEDROOM 2
The king size bed takes pride of place between handsome bedside tables; there’s storage for your clothes in a chest of drawers and a wardrobe; plus a deep armchair in the corner.

BATHROOM
A key feature in this light bathroom is the decadent roll top bath, accompanied by the essential wash basin and WC.

TOP FLOOR
Steep carpeted stairs with a handrail rise from first floor landing to the top floor where there are wooden floors throughout and rugs in the bedrooms.

BEDROOM 3
A large bedroom with a view of the church at the front of the house, furnished with twin beds with a table between them and storage in a wardrobe and small chest of drawers.

BERROOM 4
Sitting quietly at the back of the house is the fourth big bedroom, also with twin beds with bedside drawers between them and a massive wardrobe with a couple of drawers.

OUTSIDE
The Old Rope House is a mid-terraced Victorian house which was once part of the building where the ropes were made for the fishermen. Now an elegant town-house with the benefit of secure parking at the back (off Cumberland Close) for two cars with a courtyard area off the kitchen where you can dine in the sea air, and a front garden with a gate to Cumberland Avenue. The location is surprisingly quiet, tucked away near the Southwold Arts Centre, yet just minutes’ from the heart of town and the beach with its iconic pier.
